I think AFC did a real good job of balancing the groups
it seems the next round will be
    australia vs china
    S Korea vs Uzbekistan
    Iran vs Iraq
    Japan vs Uae

Then from there it would be Japan and auss in each semi final
    WE ARE THE UNDER DOGS

Was Japan impressive? They were average imo (not bad though). But obviously they were playing like a practice match and far from their 100%.

They are looking very strong...I can see them winning the whole thing easily...We have a strong team but you can tell the preparation wasnt good cause there isnt a flow to the game...as always once the ball gets to the mid fielders, they dont know what to do with it but to just kick under it, hoping that a striker will get it. Australia is playing like a team

Australia only beat mediocre Arab teams so far.

Oman - finished with a record of 1-1-2 in the Persian Gulf Cup
Kuwait - eliminated in group stage in the Persian Gulf Cup

I highly doubt it will be a sequel of the 2011 final the last time it was was the first 2 editions 1956-1960.

The Ausses are playing relaxed, smoothly, smart, and are outclassing team efter team by 4 goals so far without beeing ambitious to score even more goals. Their superiority is both provoking and insluting in some way the rest of the teams, in particular the West Asians Teams so far (The Persian Gulf teams).

You can see how they are playing with joy and without any pressure like the other teams. The worst thing hereby is however that they dont claim to be a soccer nation .
It is a joy to see Kangaroos, socceroos in action...we will see how far they can come in this way....

The average position of players in the game pretty much tells the story of where Oman went wrong. Their midfield is pretty much non-existent!

If you note on the right flank (Oman's right), Ibrahim (6) is handling both MacKay (17) and Davidson (3) without a supporting midfielder, while his supporting central defender Amer (13) is trying to contain both Kruse (10) and Cahill (4 but can not see the number) without a supporting midfielder! Two defensive players trying to contain 4 attacking players... the entire game!!!

Even in the left flank Musalimi (2) and Owaisi (3) were under direct pressure from Franjic (2) and Luongo (21), while the entire Oman midfield seems to have been out in left field - literally! They obviously dropped the ball in defensive duties completely, I'd say almost the way a team of 12 year old's would do.

The Kuwait game was very similar, except the problems were mostly in the center. If you can not open the attachments, or would like to get additional info, it's available at: http://www.afcasiancup.com/match-centre/en/ Click on a specific match and then pick "average positions"

Even though Australia beat both those arab teams convincigly but lets face it they were terrible

My dream is for Iran and Australia to play each other in the final and lets see who good they really are

The real test for Australia will come against SK, we can then judge them. Although SK is not in best shape, they will raise their game against the host and want to top the group with a win.

On the subject of so many sub-standard Arab teams, one wonders why and how they made it to the great show in Asia. There must be a problem in qualifying criteria when better Southern Soviet or Far eastern teams, be it still 2nd class couldn't make it, Vietnam for example is making head ways.

i think Aussies will struggle vs the more organized and fast Skoreans..!!
they might muster a narrow tie, but i predict a close 2-1 victory for Skoreans..!

I hope Uzbekistan ends up second in group B. Then they can give a hard time(possibly winning) to the winner of group A, and tire them out for us.

Do Aussies or SK want to face mighty Iran in the semis, I know we got to look after our next couple of opponents and then either Japan or Iraq but, it is a possibility that the same way we would want to avoid the Aussis they have similar sentiment. I want them in the final with thousands of Aussis and Persians chanting with only one outcome.

Add to that the honoury guest a certain Mr venebals watching the final!!!

So is it better for Iran if S.Korea beats Australia or the reverse ??

IMO it absolutely is the best for us. This way if we pave our way to the semis, we avoid Australia and hopefully only meet them i the final!

Australia looks amazing, they have so far been the most intimidating team, with some dazzling performance and great hunger to score goals. So far they have demolished both their opponents.

BTW this AC is the biggest decline of the Arab countries decline, and the only 2 victories for them have been against their Arab counterparts.
