    CQ blasts FIFA

    This deserves its own thread.

Iran Victimized by Sanctions, Iran Coach Carlos Queiroz Says

"We suffer a lot to prepare friendly games and to move internationally to prepare the team and players. After the World Cup the situation is getting worse and worse. The players are victimized by the limitations of the sanctions."

Queiroz complained that the knock-on effects were hampering his plans, and accused FIFA of not releasing up to $8 million in appearance money owed from last year's World Cup in Brazil.

"The situation is worse because the money is stuck," said Queiroz, who took the Iran job in 2011. "It's stuck in FIFA and stuck in the AFC (Asian Football Confederation)."

"When we come to a competition like this, we have 80 million people dreaming about the team's expectations, 80 million people supporting the team," said the 61-year-old. "But we can't play because we don't have the chance.

"Korea and Iraq did us a big favor, paying some of their expenses. When you come to this tournament (you see) it's not about fair play. For those who always talk about fair play, there is no fair play."

"Fair play is to give opportunities to these kids to play international matches, to learn as all players deserve. It's part of the FIFA spirit that politics should not interfere with the game," he said.

"In order to change and really prepare the future of the Iranian national team, it's time we got the all-clear from directors and the people that can help," he added. "Iran cannot progress and it's not fair for sport people, football players."

"Without support they cannot progress," he shrugged. "At the end of the day when you don't have resources to play games, it's not fair for football, not fair for the young players of Iran."

Damn I didn't realize we weren't paid for qualifying for the World Cup. I didn't think FIFA had to abide by the sanctions.
I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

Thank god for CQ clearing this up. Likes of Daei and Karimi have been indirectly accusing IFF of stealing it which had me shocked. You never know with Iranian media though, they could have made up stories

even from the non-football perspective, he is well worth his 2+ million salary to mullas in iran..!!
how else can they effectively cry-foul and get the word out about these unjust sanctions facing the country..?? do you think anyone, except a few outside of iran gives a flying fk about mullah or other political figures in iran complaining the same issue..!!

just look at the huge, popular media exposure worldwide, when Carlos brings attention to this, pretty much forgotten, and popularly accepted atrocity against our country..!!
mullahs in their wildest dreams, spending 20 times as much couldn't buy such media exposure to their qualms against the FIFA and their many other political nemesis world-wide..!!

        ps,
Carlos slowly beginning to top, the scandalous administration of FIFA's Shit-List, if he wasn't there already..!!?

i appreciate CQ saying this stuff but lets face it, these are same old lame excuses IR has for ages. they have the money but they wanna blame the sanctions for a few measly million? i doubt our youth progress and backwards culture and no systematic structure to our football is not held back by some few million in the past few months. this problem is deep rooted and goes back many years. its not as if FIFA paid us now, we're just gonna go fix everything.

Wow we have not been paid for the World Cup appearance yet? This is shameful!

FIFA's double standard boggles my mind. They would severely punish the football federations and their respective teams, should their governments and politics have an influence on any football related issue and decisions, yet they themselves the biggest puppets and hypocrites of all sports violate their own rules by allowing politics and governments enforcing their powers!

Down with FIFA, Long Live Mr. CQ!

true, even a hundred million investment isn't going to make a type of difference in our football organization as much as Carlos makes to be in his statement, but the fact is that he uses that excuse brilliantly to make his point that the appropriate money isn't flowing to his program nearly as well as it should and does everything in his power to open the supple of funds that helps him succeed in his own job..!!

              ps
i have a sneaking suspicion that FIFA has appropriated the funds already..?? likely its been gubbled up by some moftkhor mulla along the transfer channels and Since IFF keeps using the no WC money and FIFA and sanctions as an excuse to CQ for lack of appropriate fundings, Carlos here forces the FIFA to show his hand and tell their side of the WC Money story and hence make clear who is really responsible for these gross disservice to our National Team.

Skeptics will say CQ is just preparing his excuses for failure in the Asian Cup.

Even if we got the money it would not go to Iranian football.

Kudos to CQ. He got the Sarbazi issue resolved, which honestly seemed like an impossibility, by constantly drawing attention to it and now as a high-profile coach he's using his credentials to draw international attention to something that Kaffashian has been mumbling for months.

The difference is that when Kaffashian was saying it, it obviously didn't even reach some of our members here who check the board every day. But when CQ draws attention to it, even international media is taking note. I really hope he's successful with this too - damesh garm.

The non-settlement of the FIFA money is a real question mark. The problem is transfer of funds to Iran.....but there are ways around this. IFF can use this money outside of Iran to pay its foreign coaches, buy football gear or pay for friendlies. The money does not need to be transferred into Iran. What is the likely situation is the corrupt FIFA and IFF officials are looking for a way to divide the funds between themselves and want to avoid spending it.
If this is the case, CQ is really poking a hornets nest.

Fifa always says they don't mix Politics with football and yet we are not getting paid because of sanctions?

8 million is peanuts for a country like Iran. Hell there are so many billionaires in Tehran alone making millions a year. A few million dollars is not keeping us behind, the system is.

They explain it like this to Carlos to silence him, what they are infact doing I think is like Mojo said.

Sanctions this, sanctions that. Yeah because 15 years ago when sanctions were not this bad, we were rising so quickly in terms of everything. lol

8 million is a lot for this federation considering the sports ministry wants to crush IFF and install their own people in place.
For those of you saying there are ways around the sanctions - there aren't any clear legal ones. FIFA and whatever banks they use are afraid any sort of money that ends up in Iran will get them fined heavily.
It's the same reason that even though the US opened up legal channels for transfer of payments for medicines - no banks are willing to accommodate.
