I don't think this game is predictable. Either CQ does not reveal his optimal lineup until semifinal or Qatar or Bahrain has gone to Australia to destroy it for Iran.

guys i think predicting iran vs uae game is based on tonight iraq vs japan game, if japan happen to lose, than iran will want to come in second and not face japan, if japan win then they wanna be first in the group to avoid them, is very simple, if japan lose iran will draw, if japan win iran will win 2-0

Statistically Iran tends to win the 3rd group match in the Asian Cups... the 2nd match is the one where TM tends to choke a bit. You can trace the history of Iran's matches over several tournaments from 1996 onwards, and this pattern should become clear. Also, I do think that Japan will top their group. So all put together, game theory says Iran had better win vs. UAE.

The uae team has an atrocious defense. Bahrain just tore it apart. The only thing saving their defense is that they do no not need a win. They can defend with 10 players.

uae is a one man show. You neutralize number 10, and the team turns into garbage. Every counter attack starts from abdul rahman and every dangerous pass is given by abdul rahman.

CQ has a dilemma. Does he rest Ando for this game or does he turn him loose on number 10. We certainly do not have a lock down defender and the only player who can disrupt his game in the middle portion of the field is ando.

As for who starts up front, I think CQ will rest Azmoun and start with Ansarifard or maybe even Gucci. We may even see JB start in place of Dejagah, with Dejagah coming in the 2nd half just to stay in game shape or to maintain ball possession in case we have a lead.

We should send our backup players against UAE, which I think Qr will do. A good coach will not make his team too tired after being guaranteed going through. A good coach will also use this opportunity to use the players who havent played yet since it will be a great experience for them, and he may need some of them in the next game. A good coach, also, will not base his strategy on who he wants to play in the next round. He will concentrate on his own team, and whats good for them. Besides, it's likely that our backup players will win against UAE.

Even if we wanted to think about our next round opponent, first of all it's not 100% that Japan will finish first in their group (its close), but even if they do, so what. If we tie or lose, we'll be playing in a very good game against Japan, which should be fun. The prize, if we win against them, is possibly another juicy game vs. South Korea.
