Credit should also go to Kiarash for providing me with the fantastic template. I just change some words and flags.

I hope you don't want us play Japan instead of Iraq

Not that we are already guaranteed the first spot in our group either!

Anything but Japan win is a big shock, even a draw. We'll have to absolutely win against UAE to have the luxury of playing Iraq or Jordan, both weaker teams than all our Group opponents. But I can imagine Queiroz knows every possible scenario and prepared for it.

We MUST avoid Japan at any cost.
IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

If Iraq wins, they are guaranteed top place in the group. Meaning if we were to finish first, we would play Japan in the quarters and if we advanced, most likely Australia in the semis. If we were to finish second, we would play Iraq in the quarters and if we advanced, most likely Korea Republic in the semis. Not saying we should purposely lose vs UAE if Iraq wins, but a tie wouldn't be bad.

If Iraq wins, although unlikely, I would field the following team vs UAE. It would give our starters some much-needed rest and give experience/match praxis to the second team. Since we don't have another true DM to play next to Ebrahimi, it could be pre-determined to sub off Neko at HT or so and bring on Ando instead, so neither tires too much.

                      Ebrahimi - Nekounam
                      Jahanbakhsh - - - Rafiei - - - - - - - Amiri

I really like Iraq; young squad with tons of talent.
Not to bothered whether we play Japan or Iraq. If we believe we're the best team in Asia we should be able to beat every team in the continent.

As much as I know why some want to avoid Japan, if we want to win the Asian cup we will have to beat Japan. No team in Asia can beat them with the way they play. Only our defensive park the bus could defend a 1-0 against them if we got the goal. Australia would be exposed on counters and Korea would lose due to trying to push forward too much and being too indecisive with possession. UAE would barely see the ball against Japan.

As for this game, I don't see how Iraq is going to win. Younis Mahmoud has rarely ever played against defenders with the pedigree that the Japanese have. I expect a 2-0 Japan win.

I only said that because I think we will finish second in our group.. therefore I want Iraq to win so we can end up playing them and beating them rather than Japan.
