If looking "horrible" results in 3 straight wins and topping your group, I hope we look "horrible" against Iraq too.

I think people are forgetting that CQ didn't field his regular starting 11. It might not be pretty but we won, three wins and three clean sheets. And anyone that knows anything about championship teams in any sport, they're built on defense.

Stop giving negative posts. Yes, it's boring, yes it's defensive, but it's 3 wins and 3 cleansheets.. stop complaining and get behind the boys for once
i support the national team 110 percent. but getting dominated in possession by bahrain qatar and uae is not ok. its ok if korea japan and australia have more possession. people underrate our players too much we are more then capable of passing the ball then what we are showing,

0 shots on target, not even one save from our keeper, for all you idiots complaining about possesion, what is the use of 67.7% possesion and 592 passes if you can not even get one shot on target. They failed, that is all, and these statistics tell the real story, and not some biased emotional crap from some of you expecting our team to play like real madrid. We are a very athletico style team.

Queiroz definitely knows how to frustrate the opponents even if the situation is in favor of them. Iran always used to play beautiful but we actually didn't achieve results... Queiroz teaches them to play dirty, to commit fouls, perhaps to "park the bus" but in the end he gets the results and that's important. It's not like ice figure skating where beauty counts!

To sum it up without doing the extensiv analysis:
Iran displayed an awful performance, no hunger or motivation, unable to put together more than 3-4 passes and so on..
This is actually nothing new, usually we tend to overestimate how to say, how good of a team Iran actually is. When Iran we win we idolize the team and make them all kings, and when we lose we think of them as shitty players. This is reality foks, we've been outplayed for most part of these 3 group stage matches. Today we got away with a lucky win. we used to kill these arab teams in the era of bagheri, minavand, azizi and kia, and now we're celebrating a narrow victory over uae. But this is reality, you shouldnt get to upset when the team lifting the trophy isnt Iran (god forbid). Unlike every other team in the world, Irans football isnt supported or nurtured, all we got are fakked up fans who cherish the team when victorious and banishes them when on the losing end.
I will edit this post if Iran reaches semifinal, cause like every other iranian fan I'll start believing we can, if with a liiiiittle bit of luck, win the World Cup in 4 years..

Getting Iranian players to defend with such solidity and organization in a feat!
This defense is even more classic than Italian defense!
Least you can do is to praise him for that!

How is it not ok? We just won three out of three games.

because we can do better. You dont have to park the bus against arabs, you can press high up the field, because everytime you do that to any arab team, they lose the ball.

We don't press at all under CQ and that's really frustrating to watch. We showed that we could do that with our 3 friendlies before the WC, but we've never adopted that tactic for competitive matches, especially against weaker teams like UAE.

It's VERY encouraging to see that Haghighi hasn't made a single save in 3 games that a half-decent recreational goalie wouldn't have been able to make, but that just goes to show how weak our opponents have been in offense (relative to world standards).

My concern is that even our defense (that has otherwise been solid) is starting to break-down, because we're putting way too much pressure on them - they're going to be both physically and mentally fatigued as the tournament progresses if we don't take some pressure off of them - like Pele said: the best defense is offense.

Any who, I'm always hoping that CQ will surprise us in the next match with some brilliant tactics, but he's got to start delivering on that.

Ando's continues as the "workhorse", his importance just outside the box and shear determination to get to the ball first was once again underlined. The last couple of corners were taken by Dejagah and not Ando, allowing him to take up that very role I am referring to and through his powerful drive Gucci scored.
