Open your eyes people. We were terrible, and I mean it, terrible, in every single aspect. Experience won us the game, however we were horrible.

Congrats to all Iranians anyways because this win might be the key to our Asian Cup campaign

Omar reminds me of Willian on Chelsea. Very solid/world class indeed.

Guys, UAE team has been together since U15 ... These guys are from the football academy very much like how Barca is currently... They've played together for years! No wonder why they seemed harmonious

Nekounam's body language during that interview after the game (and his answers) wasn't what you'd expect and when Ando got asked the question about players at halftime being mad, he got a bit defensive with his answer...don't want to start anything, but something that I pondered. Sideline reporter for IRIB also mentioned how CQ said that he didn't care who he faced the next round.

we were bad at possesion but iran does not keep possesion, but we created chances in first and second half, also we pushed till the final whisle and gucci scored that football. our defense hold firm and we did not let in a goal, most likey we will play iraq or jordan, the funny part is if jordan beat japan ,japan is out

Don't think CQ was playing for a win. That was such determination by Gucci. Without him you would not have scored there. He was in the right place at the right time

I missed the first stats of possession and shots.
Pretty one sided in possession, but we were superior in chances.

If we took out the possession stat, you'd guess Iran had 55 v 45 possession advantage.
I think UAE wasted a lot of time passing the ball in their own half.
They didn't have desire to win, but to be patient and sting when we lapse and then waste time, but they failed at the end!
I was hoping for a goal to burn them for wasting time in the last 20 minutes and it went in!!!

They deserved to concede more than we deserved to score!

This was probably the worst Iran-UAE game that I've ever watched. I don't remember ever UAE having so much ball possession against us. I'm just happy we dodged Japan and I'm sure they're happy too.

What did UAE do to outplay us? They only have so many passes because a large number of them were between their defenders and defensive midfielders slightly higher up.

Can you recall one dangerous shot on target from UAE? Let them pass all day long in their back line, it will never do them any good.

Abdul Rahman had a few nice through balls and dribbles, but what did they amount to in the end? Not even one dangerous chance on target.

In the end, we got EXACTLY what we wanted. We won 3 points, we face Iraq in the quarters most likely, and we didn't need to use all of our starters for 90 mins.

Of course the boys need to sharpen up on some of their attacking, but we have a game plan and we stick to it well. All we need is a little more focus on attacks. Most of our attacks are ruined by our own players. If you noticed, a lot of our successful counters led to dangerous moments or at worst a free kick or corner.

As long as we are happy with shitty performances and good results our football will never improve.
Well done to UAE played really well, they could've easily played defensive and wasted loads of time (like we did against Qatar) but they didn't, respect.

Ando was fantastic as usual, that guy never gives up, I wish he was 20 and could play for us for another 10 years.

Congrats everyone, but that was definitely one of the top 5 most stressful displays I've ever witnessed from TM and on the exact opposite end of the spectrum from the "beautiful football" CQ promised before the game.

I'm sorry, I've never used the phrase "park the bus" as far as CQ's tactics are concerned, but if you were to define that in the dictionary, it should go along with TM's stats from this game. Less than 30% possession in the 1st half against freakin' UAE!!!!! 400+ completed passes for them and less than 100 for us?!!!!

If there was a prize for making shitty opponents look like Argentina/Germany, CQ would win that prize hands down every time! God bless Gucci for always saving TM's, CQ's and our a$$es with a moment of brilliance, but CQ's gotta stop being a one trick pony in these pressure situations, grow some kohunas and let the boys play like they did in the last 10 minutes.

We were tactically ZERO in this game, the Australian commentators were getting frustrated with us , and if it wasn't for the boys relentless effort and some Iranian style gheyrat, we would be all but guaranteed a quarter-final exit from the tournament once again.

I don't want to pick on individual players, because when you don't have the right psyche you're not going to perform well, but why the hell did Amiri play 90 minutes in this game and what the hell has happened to JB?!!!

Sorry, more context lol. You mean Javad and Ando cared who they faced? And they were disappointed with the formation and style of play (that they were instructed to do by CQ)?
