For those who have not been here for many years.. Doom has been like this since I got here (back in 2006). No coach not ONE TM coach has ever been satisfactory, to him.
The worst part about his commentary, is that he takes kernels of truth and spins them into his negative diatribes. At this point, I really think he has issues.

I used to write long responses to foolish "analyses" like his, but it all boils down to this: TM does not (and hasn't in the past decade) have a team which is talented enough to compete with the top teams in the world, and sometimes even in Asia. Right now, just glancing at the rosters of a couple of other Asian teams, I STILL think TM doesn't have the overall depth of talent as say, Japan. However, CQ has them playing such disciplined defensive football, that they play ABOVE their depth.

I love CQs philosophy.. tactically sound defense and counter.. and count on the exceptional individual talents of a few players up top, to poach a goal. TM CANNOT play beautiful passing games against opponents, and have the maximum chance to win (although they may win playing that way). We don't have the individual talents all over the field, and probably won't for quite some time, until the football infrastructure of the country evolves.

Doom talks like someone who has never actually PLAYED football, and just yaps about what the players/coaches should do, when it's obvious that TM cannot perform the way he wants and expect to have the best chance of winning. If someone would have told me that TM would only lose to Argentina 1-0 in the WC, while having a realistic chance of actually winning (Gucci could have finished that header) or pulling of the tie (Messi miracle shot), I would have laughed.

      All hail CQ!

Everyone crying about possession stats, please think of this example.

There was an Ultimate Fighter Mixed Martial Artist in the UFC named Jon Fitch. He was not the best fighter or most gifted athlete. He was considered one of the most boring fighters in all of UFC history, but he once went on two separate win streaks, and multiple shots at champion Georges St. Pierre.

He was fired from the UFC after being considered too boring.

Why do I bring him up? Because this is how he fought his opponents. He rarely, if ever, tried to stand up and exchange blows with his opponents. His tactic was always to go to the ground to attempt to submit his opponents. He would literally drop on his own back and invite the opponent to get on top of him. He was that confident in his ground skills.

People hated this guys fights, because it was literally just grappling on the ground for 15 minutes. His fights were ugly, but he was efficient.

If he were to do what his fans wanted, and started just exchanging punches standing up with his opponents, he would have been easily knocked out.

Would you rather Iran be the fighter swinging for the fences and not playing to their strength? Iran wants a grimy fight on the ground, they don't want to stand up. They are inviting the opponent to get on top of them, because they know that their ground game is better than the opponents. Yes, an inferior fighter could get on top of him and choke him out, anything is possible, but with some will and luck, he was usually able to find a way to win.

Luckily, AFC won't kick Iran out of the Asian Cup for being boring.

I'm sorry to all that we didn't go ultra-attacking and pass tiki-taka, but realistically, we all know that UAE would have stunned us if we pushed forward. Our defense would have had pockets, and that would have allowed UAE to play to their strength in Omar Abdulrahman.

So yes, stop crying. When CQ's tactics gets us results like Saudi Arabia has had, I will join you all in the witch-hunt. As of now, your complaints are just asinine. Jon Fitch didn't care about the haters when he was getting title shots, and Iran won't care if they are in the final what anyone cares about the playing style or tactics.

actually, the greatest example is Muhammad Ali. He frustrated his opponents for 11 rounds and then knocked them out in the final rounds

Still waiting for CQ to convince

Mark Bosnic picked his team of group stages and three Iranians made the team highest number of players from one nation.

Then again he doesn't know anything in comparison to PFDC.

                Welcome Doc,
If we were at the time of losing to lebanon or Uzb, then one could beat CQ from every side, but he has come a long way. He tied with Nigeria and almost defeated Argentina (if it was not for the referee). He did beat Korea twice and he did win 3 matches in the AFC group stage. No matter how the game looked he showed success. He will more likely reach the final and hopefully will win the final. The game is not just a show of football for a few people. If you try to play in a way to please everyone you will fail, so You have to choose a way to win. You have dirty referees, you have referees who cannot see handball in penalty area or see it and ignore it, you have referees/linesmen who call every ball offside specially when TM is playing. You have people who kick and elbow our players and get no yellow card, so in view of these you have to use a strategy that works. CQ has strategy and I don't care how beautiful the game is played as long as we win in view of the points I mentioned.
CQ has a lot more respect than anyone in other professions including the SOB Japanese american who could not see well and was my dentist and broke my tooth and put a huge crown over it. He should not have become a dentist at first place. CQ became a coach and loves his job and he has done at least one thing and that is to beat every Arab team and if that is not enough then we have to wait and see whom he defeats next in Semi and final matches then we shall see who chose the right profession.
Even mayeli kohan said not long ago: We should sign CQ right away since he is the only with whom we can have a chance to win AFC cup.

Now forget about reading the above. What players are missing that CQ did not bring? How would you have played against the 3 arab teams? what would have been the scores of three matches? You are welcome to suggest and consider a coach that could have done better in UAE or Qatar game? QN? Ebrahim zadeh, Daei, .... If they are not good enough then be happy with CQ and let life go on and hope for the best.

Actually UAE may be able to defeat Japan and should we hope that happens to just prove to the world that CQ did well against UAE?
Hopefully it won't happen and hopefully we will all come to a point to agree that although we may not like CQ 's style of playing the game but we must appreciate his ability to think and to win the game where possible.

Toro khoda, alan shod MOGHE vase in harfaye chertet ?

With ''Doctor'' Doom, even if we win the World Cup final against whoever with a 1-0 win, we will have a thread from agha doctor allmighty on PFDC that CQ didnt ''impress'', as Iran didnt play like Barcelona (which we could of course, with all the preparation and the governments support, which is just like in Germany for example ) and the goal we scored from a corner kick wasnt beautiful .

Right now, we have such a positive vibe surrounding TM, starting by all the fans which attempted the group stage games, CQs love for Iran when he goes down to his knees after we win against Qatar, or Reza's screams of joy after the final whistle against the UAE.. yet you dare to create a negative vibe in a time in which we might actually win this bishh called Asian Cup, which would benefit our football so much, as we would participate in the Confed Cup in 2017 then..

SO PLEASE, STOP SPREADING NEGATIVE VIBES IN A TIME WHERE IT DOES NOT BELONG ANYWHERE AT ALL, AND STOP DAYDREAMING WITH YOUR ''ANALYSES'' WHICH ARE SIMPLY RIDICULOUS, A WASTE OF TIME TO READ & WHICH ONLY CAUSE DIARRHEA AND MAKE YOU VOMIT

useless analysis as we all know about the facilities or better call them lack of facilities for team melli compared to all the persian gulf countries or other asian teams..

with the same facilities iran would crush them all..just look how germany beat brazil 7-1 in brazil..if brazil had the same facilities and organisation germany would be a walkover for them..

and posession means nothing..look how barca had 69% in both games against bayern and lost it 7-0 on aggregate..give them the ball to do useless passes as long as we beat them at the end..

btw why dont u mention the defence that did not concede once?

Defense will take you as long as you don't concede goals, as some other have mentioned what if we fall behind by a goal or two (which is possible with any defense and any game), you can no longer rely on counter attacks and need to impose yourself on the other team, the question is are we able to? Do we have a play maker or players who can control the game and distribute passes? etc.?

It's amusing to see the general view of an average fan is always skewed towards the score line. In other words, some fans think a win automatically means good quality performance. No matter HOW a team plays or how a goal was achieved. Well, some of us are not like that.

To a more mature group of fans I could be tempted to ask them to look inside and truly assess the quality of the performance, irrespective of the result. But I'm not sure I'd get the truth here and NOW (after these 'wins' )

The next point is the quality of the opposition.
Yes, it is easy to pick and choose a game here and a game there to say these teams had caused trouble for us. But again, look inside - or even check the stats, if you like - and tell me if teams like Bahrain, Qatar and uae are teams that are on par with us (in the same line as the likes of south Korea or Saudis or ... ) that merely beating them by a solitary goal warrants such exaggerated views.
The problem is lack of ambition that allows us to still think we're on the same level of these teams instead of thinking about higher and bigger things. Pretty much how Japan and Korea think and set their goals on and have frankly achieved.

In the same vein, and as much as I am pleased to see clean sheets so far, I am also aware that we haven't faced Asia's stronger teams like Japan or Korea or Aussies yet. And as they say, ''ayaar-e defense oonvaght mailroom misheh''. I am hoping to see the same trend against those teams too. And frankly, my gripe is and has been about the team's FORWARD moves and lack of any palpable tactics than defense.

I am not convinced about this, mostly because against decent opposition (like south Korea, ... etc.), our goals were usually a result of chance and mistakes, instead of OUR PLAYS AND TACTICS FORCING THE ISSUE.
Now if some of you are convinced and happy with such forward moves/tactics that heavily rely on chance, luck and opponents' mistakes, then so be it. But some of us would like to see we build up and force the issue through our own acts that result in goals. At least once on a while, against decent oppositions.

But I guess we don't have to wait too long. Once we do away with Iraq, we inevitably will meet the decent and worthy opposition and teams that will test our mettle and true capabilities.
Hoping that we come out with flying colors and win the cup after 40 years.
