Exactly Doctor Doom just criticized a coach. He didn't do anything wrong. He used whats called freedom of speech and gave us his opinion on this without writing anything that goes against basic human rights.

As much as people here may disagree with doctor doom (myself included) he is respected here because he does somewhat make sense and use logic and reason with others in what he says. I completely agree with you.

Relying on defensive and individual talent won't be enough one day. We can get knock out early with this "aim low" strategy and being extremely frustrated.

However, I have to admit that CQ selection (except his persistence with Shojaei) is globally logical. I would love to see Iran playing attacking football but the more I watch iranian players playing, the more I realize it is almost impossible for them to play a fluid collective game, with a high ratio of accurate passes (like japan, ajax, barcelona, etc...). Indeed, it seems the ball burns these players feet as they fail to achive a basic easy passes without any pressure.

CQ is getting the best out of a squad that doesn't have that much talent compared to past generations. A vatani coach, with these same players (lets assume that a vatani coach could have gotten Gucci and Ashkan to join, which they couldn't) wouldn't have taken us to the WC, wouldn't have gotten us the world's respect at the WC, and wouldn't have won 3x in a row against South Korea. CQ's true benefit is that he's created a sense of professionalism and created an environment where players WANT go to to Europe. Does Haghighi stay in Europe without CQ at the helm? I don't know.

At this asian cup, without CQ, we would probably still get 7-9 points but the team wouldn't stand a chance against better opposition. The verdict on CQ will be much more clear in the next few games.

At the end of the day, realistically, we just don't have the talent to play a beautiful style against tough opponents. From 2002-2008, we had 5-6 players STARTING in Perugia, Bochum, Bayern, Kaiserslautern, Bolton, Hamburg, Osasuna etc. All first-division teams. Now we have ONE player starting for a 1st-division European team (haghighi) and the rest of our players struggling to get playing time in 2nd-division and 2nd-rate teams. Wake up and smell the coffee people: we're in the midst of a talent drought. Anyone who doesn't see that, doesn't see history.

Dr Doom is one of those people who will always criticize the government of a country, the coach of a team, and anyone in a position of leadership because he's a know-it-all who is jealous of those in power. It's pretty simple to see. I've been here since 2002 and for as long as I've seen this guy posting, it's been to criticize coaches. nothing to see here, people, move along.

i am talking about in iran football not world football. people keep saying best coach we have ever had all i am saying is for now how is he the best? branko has 3rd place asian cup finish, an asian gamed gold, and a world cup qualification not tomention couple of waff championships and an asia/oceana championship, how is one world cup qualification better? how bout mohajerani? how many asian cups does he have? again i am not criticizing cq or complaining i am just clarifying that we count joojehs at the end of fall and if we counted now then he would not be the most accomplished tm manager of all time but hopefully he will be soon with an asian title and another world cup qualification under his belt.


on the world level i would say yes he probably is the most accomplished however it should be mentioned that blazevic and ivic were pretty accomplished as well, blazevic finished 3rd in the world cup with Croatia. but what does this have to do with iran coaches?
