Of course not, I don't think any logical Iranian would, atleast outside Iran. Too bad our backward and moronic government has translated Islam into not letting women go to stadiums. Only issue from my first hand experiences is that many weird guys go to the Azadi, trust me, a lot. They say stuff that's pretty nasty. I would separate men and women and see how that goes first.
Islam/qu'ran promotes segregation between men and women, so IR is not making things up here.

Having said that though the behavior and swearing at matches in Iran are just amazing and I have not witnessed them anywhere else in the world.

When I went to PP v SS a few years back and Nikbakht had just left SS the entire blue section (every single one of them....around 50,000 people) were chanting "Nikbakht K%$$ Nanat" I was dumbfounded. I have heard swearing by both sexes at sports before but a massive chant like that I have never seen.

So the question in my opinion should be......Even if they were allowed, would you want your mum, sister, wife, etc in that environment?
I did get the chance to watch PP v Poly Acril of Esfehan way back when Ali mousavi And Hashem Heydari were playing! (Winter of 1998)
My friend was a PP supporter and I just went along.
Coming from a respectful and clean speaking family, I was astounded at the level of vulgarity of the PP supporters!
Then it was about the late Naser Hejazi's family! (I think he was the manager for SS back then)
They cursed his son Atilla and heis daughter Atessa!
"Atilla khoshkele, shekle mamashe(?) $%%$ ma ghermeza $ (#(*#&) babashe(?)!!"
They also chanted the infamous "Sheere samavar ...." which I regretfully participated in chanting!!

My friend insisted on joinning the hardcore PP supporters at their usual spot in the stand, which I obliged.
Just to leave when a Taraghe exploded next to us and we almost got into an altercation with the bastards who threw it!
So we moved to the center where the neutral and normal people were!

So I support your claims to the toxic atmosphere there, which I'm sure has gotten worse!
I'd never thought our people will desert our Team Melli and mock them by supporting a foreign team which we witnessed last year when Davari Conceded two against Guinea in Azadi!
That's us Iranians! That's our people! It saddens me that it is the case, but it is what it is!

Now in the case of women in the stadiums, of course yes!
Now, you'd say they can't shouldn't and who would we want our mothers & sisters to go there!?

Well, almost nobody would at the current conditions, but one reason it is as dirty and uncivilized is because it's a men only venue!
Us men need women to keep us at our best behavior at all times!
We are shameless creatures and women are the ones who care more about social etiquette than us!
So, eventually and over time it will improve.

It takes some time and some major effort in openning the Iranian society to recover from 36 years of segregation of sexes, but it will come!

The way you have set the Poll options is laughable.

It is the RIGHT of women to also attend Football matches.
However, as someone who went to Azadi this summer and seeing the 'Aghab moondeh' people, I wouldn't want my family members especially the WOMEN to go there.

They should first create a section just for Women and gradually after couple of years mix the stadium with Men and women.
But, to just let women go to stadiums in Iran now is an idiotic decision and would have many consequences and I have no doubt one will be: sexual attacks on women

Women should not be punished because of men's poor behaviour. Instead of avoiding the problem and saying its for their "safety" put better controls on the people that are ruining it for others. Every fan should be able to attend the games, its all to support our national team.

PS your question is very poorly phrased and carries a bias. If you want a more fair vote then it should have been worded differently.

5 votes for the banning, hmmmm wow!

It's easy, let's do the comparison:

Women in Iran are banned from entering the stadiums:

We have one of the worst hooligans in the world, where fans continuously cuss everyone they don't like, resorting to profanity against the players/coaches/ managers along with their entire families. Not to mention the loss of ticket sales income which could have been produced by these very women.

Women abroad attending Iran's matches in stadiums:

A clear example is Australia AC, where men, women, kids all attend Iran's matches, yet not a single case of profanity and cussing, plus non stop cheering of TM throughout the match, no matter what the flow of the game may be.

On top of all of the above, it's a fact the women's presence at the stadiums may increase the motivation and enthusiasm of the players on and off the pitch.

can we make this a public poll so we can see which 5 morons voted for discrimination towards women?

you are absolutely correct Cataphract. But the reality is that we have an arbitrary decision to enforce women's ban. So my attempt was to find out what percentage actually support such ban, not so much whether we have the right to impose such ban.

And that is about 10%. In the last election about 4 million people voted for Jalili, with similar type of sentiment. 4 million out of 50 million eligible voter. Yet the rule of Less than 10% is overcoming the desire of more than 90%.

I disagree. My question is precisely a poll on a policy that is in effect. The "Law" is that women are not allowed to go to stadiums. By definition, this is called discrimination. Now the poll is simply find out what percentage support such discrimination.

By adding the word discrimination you already assume its a bad thing so whats the point of having a poll to see if people support it or not. Also that word will sway people to chose the no option.
