he's a very good player, but I think the journalists are really stretching it with these "greatest player in the history of asian football" type comments.
Against us, he had one good dribble, a few good passes, but otherwise we shut him down.
It is such a letdown to go from the WC to the Asian cup, that some of these journalists are just over reaching on their complements and are doing everything they can to create hype. The Australian commentator compared him to Maradona ..... really? He's a 136 lb undersized player getting compared to a Maradona that had the thighs of an elephant. He plays against inferior defenses on a weekly basis, and unless I see him play in europe, his potential on paper is not worth the paper it's written on.“It is easier to fool the people, than to convince them they have been fooled." - Mark Twain

I dont know about you man but in the stadium his movement both on and off the ball to find space as well as his passes which seemed to him the target every single time. He is a good player and I believe he deserves recognition.
I would LOVE to see him play in England or Spain to see if he is really as good as he looks.

journalism is an at an all time low these days. anyone with a stupid twitter account thinks they are some sort of expert. everyone loves glory hunting and finding the next poster boy, messi, ronaldo, neymar, etc...its all sensationalism and flashy bullshit. they go far and beyond to find that next person....this guy's highlights half his runs end up nowhere...lol..either out of bounds or the defenders get him. no one knows how to appreciate the true art of the game anymore...which is TEAM WORK AND TACTICS....they rather focus on off the field bullshit like who said what and who feels this who feels that, whos gonna go to real madrid and whos gonna go to chelsea next.

Yes, the money is good in dubai, but if you are as talented as people think you are, the money will come.“It is easier to fool the people, than to convince them they have been fooled." - Mark Twain

Daei scoring 4 against South Korea (although this was before 2000), Karimi hat trick against South Korea, probably a lot of other Asian players too, yet this guy, had a game with one or two nice dribbles and some impressive passes, and it was the best performance in the Asian cup? There has been players who have alone won games in the Asian cup, such as Karimi in 2004, while this guy didn't get anywhere

The European teams have obviously approached him and he has turned them down. There is no sanction or military issues, so it's either laziness on his part, or a preference to be a big fish in a small pond. Ali Karimi is a perfect example of a player with all that talent, but really did not do much in Europe.

Seeing as UAE offered not only Omar but his whole family citizenship says to me that he is owned and it is very possible that he is not allowed to play OS as a condition of the offer given to him by UAE.
I heard that all S.Arabia players are like this.
Lets hope he is not another Ali Karimi who squanders a great career by being lazy. If he is allowed to play overseas I truly hope he does. He has really impressed me and watching him live was honestly a pleasure (other than the stress he causes cause he can be so dangerous).

Call me stupid but I believe Karimis career was a wasted career, so while his individual skills were amazing, maybe best in Asia why is Omar no Karimi?
Happy to be proven wrong......Actually please give me some justification of why I am wrong cause I loved Karimi as a player and it breaks my heart he has very little to show for it.
Omar is still only 23
