Iran's ugly way too much for Omar Abdulrahman

You got to give Omar the credit. No one from that part of the world could teach him the way he plays. He has had to learn on his own.

Best in Asia of all time is way too much.

Iran alone has produced several players that are better than the current Omar. People have said Daei, KARIMI but I would put azzizi up there ahead of him aswell.

I think his article was pretty balanced.
You guys seem to be biased against this little Emarati guy.
If he played in TM, you would be singing him songs and call him the new Karimi.
A bunch of fan boys and a bunch of haters depending on what team he played at in PGL...

He is 23 and he is very good.

Did you guys read this segment of the article?

He is basically saying he most likely won't be going to Europe!

      And here:

Basically, he had a chance to do something, but he couldn't.
So that's not a praise for Abdurahman.
He was not able to do anything noteworthy in 90min of dominating possession.

Happy to be proven wrong......Actually please give me some justification of why I am wrong cause I loved Karimi as a player and it breaks my heart he has very little to show for it.

          Omar is still only 23
When karimi steps on the pitch, the game changes. He couldn't be stopped by anyone in Asia and would dribble through defenses at will and create chances for his team mates. Omar was shut down by Nekounam and ando the other day.....karimi destroyed Korea, Japan, and several other strong teams almost single handedly. This kid has a whole lot more to prove before he can even be mentioned in the same sentence as karimi.

You guys conveniently overlooked these parts though:

You guys cannot expect the whole world praise everything about us LOL. We got flaws, just like everybody else, this includes our team and football!

I don't know how he would fare in Europe, but on that day he was just different class on the pitch. His first touch was truly world class. His ball control in tight spaces and passing range was a pleasure to watch, even though it was nerve wracking as an Iran fan. Just saying.

Wait what? Is this post really happening? "Why is Omar no Karimi?", I cannot believe what I'm reading tbh. So "Karimis career was a wasted career", but which part of Omar's career can be even compared with Karimi then? What has Omar Abdulrahman achieved so that you can say "Karimis career was a wasted career"? His epic playmaking skills with Al Ain vs Al Coconut?

No let me tell you, Omar is 23 like you said and hasn't achieved jack s*t yet, he has potential (and I was first saying it months ago when most people here never heard of him before the Asian Cup) but he hasn't proven anything, zero so far. I won't mention Karimi as what is happening right now is an insult to his name, and a serious answer would be basically humiliating.

I don't really get the Karimi comparisons. Karimi was a dribbler first and foremost. He was also an accomplished scorer and passer of the ball on the Asian level. Abdulrahman reminds me most of Carlos Valderrama. He just sprays ball accurately all over the pitch. Not saying he can't dribble, but it's not the first thing on his mind like Karimi.

This kid hasn't done anything for a prolonged period. He will likely never achieve much with UAE either. If he wants to move to the next level, he should move abroad, no doubt.

We had a new player Vahid Amiri which I thought moves great with the ball and amazing dribbling abilities. The UAE guy is fine but he was unable to hurt TM and be a serious danger.

I would take Omar A over America or Shojaie. The guy was a fantastic player. I only guess they don't feed him in UAE. Had he been a bit bigger he would stand out even more.

Every UAE goal or positive attack has had to do with Omar. Partly bad luck and partly incompetence of their forwards stopped UAE from winning it all.
.... At the end I am nothing other than ordinary

Well said. I don't get some of the comparisons here either. Karimi was not exactly a playmaker. He wasn't even much of a passer until 2004 when he was 26. Before that he was often a selfish dribbler that hurt the team just as often as he helped it. Azizi was a great second striker and a great passer in his own right but contributed almost nothing off the ball. With the ball he was magic, without it he was just a spectator.

Your Valderrama comparison was spot on. I can honestly say I've never seen a playmaker at the Asian level who could orchestrate the attack with this kind of vision and accuracy. Navidkia perhaps could have been the guy but I think his early injuries didn't allow him to reach his full potential.

As far as "greatest individual performances" go, I do agree with others that Karimi and Daei's demolition of Korea in 2004 and 96 are the benchmark.

                          WHy is even a thread?

the guy who wrote the article is clueless. I stopped reading when he called Omar the best player and used the F word in the second paragraph.

                          close thread pls

Im sure such a brilliant performance wont be repeated again in future. Just like Maradona in 86 will probably be the best WC performance ever.

you guys didnt get it...I didnt post this article because of Abdulrahman, but because of the way the writer describes our tactics...that we are supposed to look bad on the pitch for our tactics to work, and how dangerous this makes us
