it is a tough one, tm actually played decent had they played like they did against u.a.e i would ve said yes however options should be considered and i defenately dont think he is king, maybe king of hearts but not king. i personally dont like his brand of football he likes negative football. should he be firerd? if with a long term plan and a coach of equal calibre then yes it may be time to look at another option but if it is going to be the usual short term with marfavi or veisi replacing him then no.

Should Carlos Queiroz be fired now?

Here is the thing:
-the work Carlos has done to organize this team is something that won't fade away that easily even if we go on with another coach.
-I still rather keep Carlos because we do not have anyone to replace him and by the time we look for someone we will already be wasting our time.
- is our style going to change once nekounam and teymourian leave team melli?

Carlos Queiroz is not the right coach for Iran and hence I think we should part company with him at this point. Four reasons which I would like to put forward:
1. He is lethargic by nature, i.e. does not work hard to find regular meaningful friendlies for the team, and likes to take numerous vacations. The man has been in charge of the team for 4 years now, and I do not recall more than a couple of worthy friendlies scheduled under his watch.
2. Beyond the respect we have for his resume, his rigid personality fails to inspire our players, and frankly I doubt he is even such a great strategist. The only strong suit he has is defense. Every time he has tried to architect an attacking game for Iran, we have failed. (Bosnia 2014, Iraq 2015 come to mind.) I honestly think Iran should have just defended the early 1-0 all the way to the end, instead of pushing ahead for the 2nd goal.
3. He makes wrong player selections. For a tournament like this, we needed at least two players with great ball control skills invited and on the field to increase possession and add pace control. If you followed the stats for all 4 games, Iran did not enjoy good possession or percentage of correct passes. For a team which just came from the World Cup, this is totally unacceptable.
4. He has simply exhausted all he has to give to Iran. The next 3 years that he could be in charge will be very similar to what went on, with an occasional mediocre friendly game and then complaining about the lack of money or preparation possibilities. If we get a new head coach, he should be able to impart new insight and techniques to the players and their style. Iran needs a head coach who used to be a midfielder, not a goalkeeper or a defender.
At this point, after the current IPL season is over, Mansoorian or Faraki should be given the helm of the national team. Give them some time and see how things ago. If the results are not respectable, immediately start recruiting a foreign head coach who satisfies condition 1 through 4 above.
By the way, Ghotbi managed to get Iran as far as the quarter finals, as did Ghale'noi. I remember people calling for the heads of both of them after the tournament. My feeling is our people give CQ way too much respect, far beyond what he really deserves. The man was put in charge of big clubs or national teams with many famous players and could not deliver a single championship. The art is when you can get a nameless club or national team into the final 2 of a tournament.

Seriously, the match yersterday reminded me so much of Qatar - Iran in WCQ 2006.
Only difference that under Branko we were able to actually play an attacking game and save our asses when we got scored on.
We are incapable of holding a lead without resorting to park the bus tactics, bezan siresh and grassrolling.
And we were doing this in all of our AC matches.
What kind of football is this?
A reflection of the football CQ thinks our team is only capable of. Scared chicken football

It's unfair to say ''CW recognizes Iranian players can't pass, so ....''.
First of all our players can do that quite fine and far better than majority of Asian teams. The problem starts with his selection that chooses physicality and defensive attitude over creativity and passing ability.
When you pick certain type of players based on the above, naturally the correct passing averages go down.
Secondly, when you CHOOSE a style and tactics that voluntarily surrenders the ball, so you are kept and chained at the back, then naturally our passing is affected as we don't have many players up front to pass to. And if we do send passes up, the ratio of our players vs. opponents makes precision passing more difficult.
So instead of simply blaming the players, we must first find out why and how

CQ made one simple oversight which does not warrant a firing. He should have learned that if IFF is this incompetent, the AFC, and all that is associated with it, including the referees are the same. The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. In hindsight, I am sure he wishes he never criticized Ben Williams during the Bahrain match and left his verbal comments about the refs till after the tournament. I think as the aussie commentators mentioned, Ben Williams never forgot those comments and he exacted a selfish "revenge" on TM and CQ. Hindsight is 20/20 and had this been any other confederation it would be a non-issue...but this is the AFC!Remember RESPECT BEGETS RESPECT & Zob Ahan

Who ever that says CQ should be fired is mad! Pure and simple MAD.
I mean just imagine for a second... someone like GN or Derakhshan or the likes of these people... what on earth can they learn the players AFTER CQ has been in charge of the TM. What can they add??
Can you even compare the knowledge and experience of CQ with these people?!!!sigpic

I'm really curious to know who are those 3 members who voted for "Yes he should be fired and replaced by a vatani coach!".
Can mods name and shame those users here so we know who we are dealing with? That way we don't even waste our precious time responding to their responses since probably they don't have any common sense at all based on their vote.
