That didn't seem to work out too well in the WC with the Argentina match, did it? It's AFC, but also a broader ref issue. Every team has gotten cheated some time, but no team gets cheated as regularly and dependably as Iran.

True, but still we have better odds of making the World Cup itself. I really have given up on us winning the AC. The combination of corruption and Arab vendetta against Iran is just too much to overcome. All it takes is one corrupt referee in one knockout match and we're out every time.

AFC had already signaled what they wanted when they assigned this Aussie asshole while he was already in a tense situation with Iran and had a reputation for holding grudges. They knew he was likely to screw us just to prove a point, and at the end he'd get most of the blame and Iran would be eliminated. Win Win for AFC arabs.

I personally like Iran to get out of the AFC and join Europe, because it is A LOT more interesting confederation where we automatically get to play with top flight opposition and improve over time as a result. For those who say it would be suicide as far as chances of qualifying to the World Cups, then how did Bosnia, a team comparable to Iran in strength and weaker in resources (as far as number of talent available) managed it in 2014? There are also other "weak" countries like Azerbaijan Republic, Tajikistan and Armenia which are members of the European FC. There was a parallel discussion after the AC 2004 with very similar circumstances about leaving the AFC: A lot of people showed strong support for the idea but once the heat subsided, nobody seemed to pursue it further... Iran will NEVER be treated fairly in the AFC.

The goal of winning asian cup is not for the prestige of this mickey mouse title or to have this sh1tty trophy but to qualify for the confederation cup and escape asian mediocrity.

Saying that we could try to apply for Europe (even if it is a 100% fail + european epidermic reaction against an islamic country that is not even in Europe).

The best thing to do is to qualify form AFC, send Players to Europe and apply for copa America like japan and china does sometimes
