This one confirms that AFC have communicated with Iraq over the matter so at least they are definitely taking this seriously although it also states that any punishment will be for the player and not the team.

So it seems as if the Iraqis are acknowledging that he probably is ineligible it does not change that it is NOT an individual error. If the rules are applied accordingly, then the team he is playing for while being ineligible is punishable, NOT the individual!
