It all depends on if he was eligible not if he failed a doping test. If there was a letter from FIFA saying he was ineligible the case is closed (no matter what if the Iraquis deny receiving it). However as this was still pretty decent FIFA may not have made a final determination

i have no clue if real but i posted this:
@SeppBlatter please tell me you are real and believe in your own credo Fairplay. Iraq must be disqualified #AsianCupJustice #IraqiDopingIRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

Another Iraq-sourced article:

This one confirms that AFC have communicated with Iraq over the matter so at least they are definitely taking this seriously although it also states that any punishment will be for the player and not the team.

According to the attached article (see below) the verdict is not from the AFC it is a FIFA matter now. They AFC folk are awaiting answers from FIFA!
http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/artic...ligible-player
Some people are using the argument that even the player was ineligible and used by the Iraqi team, then the player should be banned and not the team getting disqualified. This does not make any sense since pr. definition he is ineligible and the rules of FIFA apply.
The most important aspect of the case is if we have informed FIFA/AFC about this case BEFORE or AFTER the game
