It doesn't matter what he's saying. Why the hell else would they be having another meeting this afternoon? For biscuits and tea?

Iran protest over 'ineligible' Iraq football player

Sydney (AFP) - Asian Cup officials scrambled on Sunday to deal with a sensational protest from Iran claiming that Iraq fielded an ineligible player during their stormy quarter-final defeat.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) disciplinary committee was set to consider the complaint against Alaa Abdulzehra, who is alleged to have committed a doping violation last year.

Iraq won Friday's spicy encounter against their neighbours and bitter rivals 7-6 on penalties after Iran were reduced to 10 men and extra time finished with the scores at 3-3.

An AFC official did not confirm whether the disciplinary committee could annul the match or reverse the result in Iran's favour -- an outcome which would put them into the semi-finals.

Midfielder Abdulzehra, 27, is alleged to have committed the doping violation while playing for Iranian club Tractor Sazi, according to Australian broadcaster SBS.

Team officials from Iran and Iraq were not immediately available for comment when contacted by AFP.

Iran coach Carlos Queiroz already complained bitterly about Australian referee Ben Williams after he sent off defender Mehrdad Pooladi for simulation in the first half.

Iraq were preparing for a semi-final against South Korea on Monday as the war-torn nation seeks its second Asian Cup title in eight years.

This guy doped FFA! He had a physical advantage!! Both he and his coach knew it! Who cares if there was no official document sent!!

          exactly!
and AFC / FIFA have to obey to their own regulation!
If not this is a breach of contract law! and will harm FIFA more than benefit!

Did this Iraqi play against Jordan in the group stage? If so, shouldn't the same FIFA rules apply to that game and give Jordan a 3-0 win? Which means Jordan qualifies to the quarters not Iraq, and Iran should replay the quarterfinal against Jordan.

THis has been answered many times, but each country needs to file a complain 2 hours after their game ends. Jordan, Japan and Palestine didn't do that. That is why they will get nothing.

Basically he is saying, I consider this investigation to be invalid as the player is not suspended or anything. Iran submitted sample A and sample B to the lab in Germany on August 8th and they claim he tested positive. However, there was no ruling from Fifa saying the player was suspended and we received his tournament card so he eligible to play. The ruling must come from the lab in Germany and because of this he is confident that the ruling will be rejected.

He said the Iranian delegation has a 16 page evidence but the sample itself was not submitted.

EDIT: He also mentioned that Iran sent this complaint 2 days before the game, and not after the game...

No. Jordan or Palestine did not file a complaint 24 hours after their matches which means any move to disqualify Iraq isn't valid. Kafashian notified FIFA right before kickoff and filed an official complaint after the loss. Iran should win this. Only complications would be tickets, accommodations, advertisement, etc - it's going to be a mess.
