Pouladi's firt yellow was already highly questionable. When you consider with what Iraq's number 2, 5 and 15 got away repeatedly before and after it becomes even more ridiculous.

Then he doesn't even touch the goalie, gets pushed down - and the push was obviously there - which usually should result in a yellow for the keeper and maybe a warning for Pouladi not to overreact, but he's sent off and the keeper gets nothing.

The isolated incidence might tempt one or the other to say, ok, a very strict referee with an aversion to diving might have given a card to both here, but again, you need to see how he reacted in similar scenes throughout the match.

How often did Younis Mahmoud fall down theatrically after much less contact in the box or at the sideline? Once before, two or three times afterwards. Referee reaction? Zero.

All in all a very clear case of directly and heavily influencing the outcome of the game. This is manipulation.

And he knew exactly what he had done and yet repeatedly refused to apply the same standards he had used on judging Pouladi's actions twice on Iraq's players at least half a dozen times, despite being confronted with this by our captain.

This man was on a mission, and he accomplished it. It saddens me when besides the fact that he will face no negative consequences for his deeds, fellow victims try to clear him of his guilt.

His name will go down in history beside Talaal Najm, as public enemy of Iranian football.

Everything is so right in this post. I've been trying to word it like this all day but I'm so furious I can't even string the sentences together properly. You basically said everything I've been trying to put into words all day.

Well said. I was at the stadium and ben Williams was obviously out to get Iran by clearly applying double standard. The Iraqis play acted and roughened up Iranians much more but didn't get the same treatment. Iran would have won by clear 2 goals in normal time if pouladi wasn't sent d never referee again in your life..bt that ben Williams single handedly change the result of the game. Mission accomplished Ben Williams. I hope you stick to your day job and never referee another football game...

Guys, Take it from me i almost never agree with anyone on this forum. But the iraqi goalkeeper PUSHED HIM. You do understand that he got more contact there than most penalties neymar has won by throwing himself without getting touched. He clearly got pushed no matter what you say the iraqi goalkeeper is at fault here not pouladi. What is a supposed to do when he falls down? Get up and yell at the goalkeeper and get a second yellow for reacting back to that situation?

The ref was crap, the ref is to blame

We were robbed because the ref DID NOT give the 2nd yellow card to that other Iraqi defender in the 2nd half! (forgot his name, the one who looked like a combination of donky face and monkey face)!

its about fairness! if Pouladi deserved a 2nd yellow, so did BY ALL MEANS that defender too! even Fox sports wondered why the ref let him get away with it!?!?!!!!

I just re-watched the first yellow card Pouladi received and this statement of Williams being on a mission to down Iran makes more sense.

When Williams blows the whistle for the foul, he at first has no intention of giving a yellow, but as soon as he sees it is Pouladi he runs up to him and shows him the card.

That just seems so peculiar if you ask me, as if he had preplanned to target our best defender for eventual expulsion.

Please watch the first yellow and see if you all agree with me.

You clearly are mistaken. Pooladi stopped up, planted his feet in front of the keeper and if anything made a light nudge...but certainly no kick. How about the fact that Ben Williams gave so many Yellow's to players and warnings, but refused, and consciously made no effort to give a second yellow or red to an offending Iraqi player? What about all those times even with 10-men a TM player burst past an Iraqi and who ended up draping himself on our player or tackling from behind with no card awarded on the play?

                      this sums it up

the ref was a joke and couldn't manage the game

two senseless bookings for pooladi cost us!

                          absolute nonsense!

so why in 2004! when EXACTLY THE SAME THING happened and our player pushed a chinese player in asian cup semi final

THE CHINESE PLAYER DIDNT GET SENT OFF FOR DIVING?

but in fact it was OUR player sent off for pushing?

                          answer me that then?
                          watch it here

it seems we get the shit deal every time! same thing but both times wrong the decision against us!!

exactly! it is absurd for a player to push someone in the chest and for the player who got pushed to get a second yellow for embellishing the push.

When we know...(and All of all players knew this ...or should have known) That we are in a sensitive match and the Ref can use anything against us..and that he could be bias against IRAN in his decisions..
when we get pushed we must do everything in our power to STAND!!! ........
Why did Pouladi have to collapse.?..especially when he already had a yellow card? I have the outmost respect for him...but When we know the REF can make unfair calls against us ....we don't give him any excuses......As a respect to all of all other players..I must say even though they had the toughest tackles in IRAQI penalty area...none of them even thought about falling down...as they knew , it could be used against us.....they also knew if they fight and keep going (instead of falling and drawing a penalty) they could actually score!!

Everyone can see we did not deserve to lose that Match.

Out of curiosity does anyone know what the Iraqi community is saying? How are they handling/defending the doping claim?
