They fought hard, and they will never forget about this tournament. Especially the match against Iraq and Benjamin Williams.
Youngsters and starters Sardar Azmoun and Morteza Pouraliganji will benefit tremendously from this Asian Cup. Carlos put his trust into these two U-23 players who in my opinion played with confidence and class. These two players (I mention them specifically because they are young) will go into the 2019 AFC Asian Cup a lot stronger and with a lot of experience and ambition. Khanzadeh as well (since he experienced this Asian Cup with the team).
Newcomers Vouria Ghafouri and Vahid Amiri should be very proud of themselves for stepping up to the plate and really delivering in this tournament (despite the fact that Amiri missed his penalty. Any player can miss a penalty the same way he did. Vahid shouldn't beat himself up for it. What's done is done and in the past). It was a good experience for Ramin Rezaeian too.
Alireza Haghighi. I was waiting to see more from him and I did this Asian Cup. He proved me wrong. I never doubted him, I just wanted to see him be put under more pressure. But man, did he deliver. I'm still thinking about his save against Iraq. What a save. Haghighi is a talented and confident goalkeeper who has not only proven to Iran and Asia that he should be wearing the #1 shirt, he proved to the World last summer that he is Iran's current number one. He should be proud of himself.
The rest of Team Melli players, staff, and head coach Carlos Queiroz should all pat themselves on the back and be very proud of themselves. They should also not worry too much. Because karma is a big bitch. Oh yeah she is, and she will bite back all of those who had negative intentions towards Team Melli.
