Great comment. It's amazing how naive some people remain.

I would love it to be in Iran to be honest and some the facilities in Iran really are not bad at all. Ahvaz has a new stadium and is currently building another even better stadium for Foolad. If Ahvaz can do it then I am sure Shiraz, Esfehan and Mashad could also do it.

I would sell my house to have a ticket to an Asia Cup final at Azadi with Iran in it.

Cons of a tournament in Iran: Ticket sales....How would you have an online ticket sale when most people dont know how it would work in Iran. Although this new "aber cart" is starting to make people more alert of how to online purchase. Transport for people and also hotel bookings.

The Iranians won the supporter medal hands down in Australia, even more than Australians. Imagine the Iranians in UAE. This will be not just like a home tournament. It will be a home tournament.

I hate to say this, but Iran under the IR has neither the right political atmosphere nor the facilities, to host an Asian Cup in 4 years. So it is better if the UAE gets AC 2019.

I have witnessed SS v PP at Azadi which was simply breathtaking.
I have witnessed PP v Bayern Munich at Azadi which was awesome cause I saw Ballack and the like play

But.....NOTHING would even come close to seeing a packed Azadi for an Iran game. I really hope that I am lucky enough to witness it in person one day.

Something like the atmosphere of Iran v Aus in 97 or Iran v Japan in 2005 (Karimi to Hashemian for the winner)

But Iran has more soul and more atmostphere than any of these fake countries.

Asian Cup is not going to bring much business to the country as people might think.

South Africa lost billions of dollar hosting the world cup. Fifa was the one that made serious money.
Its well known that countries that host Olympics and the World Cup never make a profit. But it is done for the legacy.

If Iran is miraculously able to win the bid, money will definitely be spent at least finishing the stadium(s) U/C now, because the spotlight would be on Iran. Think about the media influx into Iran...

Also you are forgetting our biggest selling point. Passionate fans and a true footballing atmosphere.

Uae getting it is not so bad, it is practically an iranian province with its large Persian community...plus the facilities will be even better than Australia...

We should not be encouraging or happy with UAE hosting it simply because they will politicize the whole thing with their AR AR gulf shit.

A good stadium does not make up the entire picture so I would disagree it would be better than Australia.

Australia has a history of hosting sporting events so it knows how it is done. In Australia and in particular Melbourne we know how it is done and believe me it is the little things behind the scenes that make them appear so capable.

Melbourne has on a yearly bases:
                        1. Australian Open Tennis
                        2. F1 Grand Prix
                        3. Moto GP
                        4. Melbourne Cup (a horse race which Melbourne has a public holiday for)
                        5. AFL Football (5th highest average attended sport in the world)
                        5. AFL Grand Final (100,000 people for the final of the season)
                        6. Boxing Day Test Match (possibly the biggest game of cricket for the year, usually gets over 70,000 people)

                        Add to that this year:
                        6. Asian Cup Football
                        7. Cricket World Cup
                        8. International Champions Cup (Real Madrid, Manchester City, AS Roma playing a mini tournament)

This is the experience that makes for an amazing tournament, not just having "shik" stadiums you spen 1 billion each on.

If UAE host a "better" tournament than Australia I will move to Ghazvin and only wear crotchless pants while constantly bending over to "smell the roses"

I flew to Iran for Iran vs Japan game in 2005. That was the last time I visited Iran. What an incredible match. I remember when Japan scored the equalizer the japanese fans started screaming and cheering and all of sudden the whole stadium started cheering Iran cause they didn't want to hear the Japanese. It was incredible.

I wish Australia could host the Asian Cup again in 2019. I think it was the best Asian Cup tournament ever to date, I don't think any other country would come near Australia.
