Should Australia stay in the AFC?

Before everyone starts bashing me, please read the thread before commenting.

There has been a recent movement (mostly from Arabian federations) to kick Australia out of the AFC.

Their reasoning? Well, they claim that Australia hasn't brought anything to the table in terms of benefits for the AFC, i.e it has not been mutually beneficial for AFC and Australia. Australia has taken up 1 of the very few four spots that AFC is allocated for the World Cup, and their clubs have performed well in the ACL(Wanderers winning it this year).

Australia leaving could also be beneficial for Iran as we have better chances of making the world cup.

Personally, I'm against throwing Australia out, only because they are a solid team that raises the profile of AFC. Sure they take up one spot that potentially could be ours, but I'd rather TM improve and deserve to go through than to play a bunch of Arab teams to go through.

What do you guys think?

Id rather play Australia toe to toe then deal with the bullshit arabs bring.. we can beat aussies or loose with pride to them.. or we can deal with corruption time wasting and bullshit with the arabs

Also having Australia in AFC ensures awesome tournaments like AC2015.. The Iranian fans had the most fun this tournament, Also a team like Aussies in AFC will keep the professionalism high, they will complain to fifa when the arabs do their tricks to the aussies

The question is, what benefit has Australia brought to the AFC? I haven't seen much benefit.

They stand to benefit from than the AFC, because previously their players were stuck playing New Zealand and Fiji for half a world cup spot.

Not only am I against kicking Australia out, I'd look into merging Oceania with the AFC in order to get the continent 5 World Cup spaces. The only other semi-respectable team in Oceania is New Zealand.

Yes. AFC should try to get New Zealand too. I kind of want AFC to invite Russia, Egypt and Turkey for each Asian Cup without qualification. Israel too for that matter just to piss off Mullahs and Arabs.

That makes a logistical nightmare. This means that most teams would have to travel 20 hours to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji etc etc.

I suggest splitting the preliminary rounds into East and West Asia, then merging them in the final round for two groups.

Australia is one of the model teams for Asian countries with their infrastructure, high level of professionalism and quality of their football, and most importantly they raise the standard of competition.

Arabs are just affraid of competition or anyone that stands in their way. Not surprised by their action but I hope it doesn't pick up any momentum as Australia's ousting would be a blow to AFC.

I think the bigger question is why is New Zealand and reset of Oceania not part of Asia? I think what Asians have to argue for is to get the 1/2 of quota that is set aside for Oceania go to Asia. As it stands, Australia is the only beneficiary from this.

If the arab countries want Australia out then their presence surely must be a good thing.

I feel that the seperation of AFC into west, central, east and ASEAN regions is part of a plan by the Arab FAs to eventually separate completely and get 2 spots just for Arab countries. Considering they Have massive lobbying power they can pull it off.
As for Australia their only negative is the ridiculous travel hours required for games there.

i was against australia from the first moment, because of World Cup Spots is Asia. and to be honest, it is really right, they just come to Asia, to qualify for World Cup and even take asian cup of us and also seems to win it now, despite not being a true or strong football country in my eyes.

All in all i can understand arabs, even a logical iranian look to this:

We did not qualify for 2010 World Cup, also because of Australia, as they were in the other group and not us.....

I think we should kick them out. We have no benefit, never played australian League side, and even if we play, what will bring us this???


1) Kick them out
2) Collect Russia, Turkey, Armenia, Georgia, Cyprus, Azerbaidschan, Kaschastan (probably also Moldavia, Ukraine, Greece) and creat East Europe and Central Asian Confederation with Bangladesch the most eastern-side of this Confederation. And East Asia should merge with Ocenia. Give each Confederation 5 fix spots for the World Cup and 11 in total with an inter-continental playoff between east vs. west...i think 11 out of 32 WC spots for all this countries is fair, probably even 12 spots...
