There has been a recent movement (mostly from Arabian federations) to kick Australia out of the AFC.

Their reasoning? Well, they claim that Australia hasn't brought anything to the table in terms of benefits for the AFC, i.e it has not been mutually beneficial for AFC and Australia. Australia has taken up 1 of the very few four spots that AFC is allocated for the World Cup, and their clubs have performed well in the ACL(Wanderers winning it this year).

Australia leaving could also be beneficial for Iran as we have better chances of making the world cup.

Personally, I'm against throwing Australia out, only because they are a solid team that raises the profile of AFC. Sure they take up one spot that potentially could be ours, but I'd rather TM improve and deserve to go through than to play a bunch of Arab teams to go through.

    What do you guys think?
How about you post a link to this so-called "movement"?

Asia needs to improve its football and they ONLY way to do that is to improve their governments, get investment in and be a decent part of the world community. Anything else is just excuses and bullshit and the world doesn't want to see 12 countries where half of them cant even organise a raffle.

Some look at the forest and others just at the trees.

LOL... I was expecting Arabs to say these things about Australia... they are afraid.

I want Australia in Asian Cup for forllowing reasons:

1, they are too goof for Oceania.
And if you add them to CONMEBOL (South America you would destroy the travel itenerary of South Americans as the flight over Pacific ocean to Australis is senseless... so the most logical thing is to add them to AFC.

          2. The speed and level of AFC will improve with having many EPL (English Premier League) players and football style.

          3. Australians are not corrupt, so more non corrupt nations in Asia is welcome.

          4. Australians, have a weight in AFC and Arabs cannot manipulate their games vs Australia, thats why they are now complaining to kick them out... I hope they fail with their idiotic campaign.

5, we have a big Iranian expat community in Australia and that helps when we have away games...

6, and finally, it will piss the Arab nations off, which I find delightful... Australians are the ones who actually after few more years in Asia, will start revealing the corruption in AFC and as I said earlier they have some weight internationally, something we dont have!

so, YES let the aussies stay, and let them win their first Asian Cup this Saturday vs South Korea on their own soil.

            They should sty for sure!
Everyone has mentioned good reasons for it.

But for the ones wishing Iran joining EUFA, it has good and bad consequences.
We probably will fail in our qualifications for the next 20 years!
Every European team can be a challenge for us, short of Luxemburg, Lichtenstein and Andorra!
Since the IFF and IR are not really concerned with growth and success of the country, then there's no hope of for much improvement rubbing shoulders with Europeans.

The upside is our players and talents will get showcased often and get many offers from a variety of European countries and clubs, which in a long run can be very helpful at national level in the future, but still you should remember even Sweden, Turkey and Poland with a few world class players and decent leagues struggle to qualify every time!
Unless you guys think we are better than Sweden, Turkey and Poland, which is delusional.
We can't have such a long run of luck to get through the many games of qualifications there and then as a good second team get to battle the likes of Portugal!

So as a whole there's potential and possibility of genuine progress, but it won't mean playing in the World Cup anytime soon!

The Kiwis (ie. New Zealand) are already thinking seriously of joining AFC. It's just a foot away from the door.

I would have like Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Cyprus join AFC and Kazakhstan to return, this would create a counterbalance(more competitive vs powerhouses Japan,Korea and Australia), also (in AFC if any of these get a seat then they could standup against the influence of corrupt cheaters from the Arab World, China and Australia). Alternatively Iran join UEFA and just simply play tough opponents on regular basis and maybe in 50 years time can qualify for Euro or World Cup
Joining UEFA brings other positives such as improvements in Club football, Grass Roots, Infrastructure, Football Administration etc.

My only concern is they have yet to implement the "+1" rule in the A-League, they declined to implement it for next season.

A-League has great exposure in Europe, it is actually shown on BT Sport in the UK. I think the AFC should pressure them to add this rule because i can assure you many local clubs will take this option.

Yes, AFC should add New Zealand and in exchange move us to UEFA! We've had our share of dealing with these Arabs for way too long now!

Honestly, the best and most realistic idea is to split into West and East Asia. Lets be realistic, we will never be in UEFA, and Australia will very unlikely be willing to go back to OFC.

2 spots to West Asia and 2.5 spots to East Asia.

                        Asia's 0.5 spot vs OFC

                        CONCACAF vs CONMEBOL

                        OR

2.5 spots to West Asia and 2.5 spots to East Asia and the 0.5 spots from each region play each other to determine who qualifies to the WC as the fifth Asian team.

Playing only in West Asia would be horrific for us and Uzbekistan. The Arab federations would pull every trick in the book.

West Asia having the same amount of spots as East Asia? West Asia should have 1 or 1.5 spots as its far weaker.

So no formal movement just bullshit. Take this as an indication that Australia wont grease anyone's hands and are trying to implement change in AFC. This Asian Cup they tried to implement the "stop delay" motto and this was a direct challenge to the arab nations who "grassroll". Funny how the biggest whingers here about this also suggest Australia should leave AFC. Sometimes you cant fix stupid.
