yes the inexperienced amiri played very poorly, his sub was questionable. and i am not saying this because he missed the penalty imo hitting the post on a penalty is not cause to blame him for the loss but falling asleep leaving his man unmarked on two goals is. jahanbakhsh also played very poorly, on the second goal gave up the ball and got beat with ease by the same player into the box. haghighi also played very poorly, gave up a weak layi, on the second goal made an awful rebound on a bad angle shot and was real poor in pks.

Did Amiri cost us the match as much as Ben Williams?!!!

CQ moved Ehsan to a position he's played plenty of times before and brought Amiri to play Ehsan's position farther up. And the funny thing is if he had brought on a purely defensive sub, the same internet tacticians and analysts would claim it as yet another proof of his "timid" tactics! Guaranteed.

I am not sure why we always focus on the small picture and not see the big picture,
The main party at fault was IFF for not setting up enough friendlies.... as it was said over and over again, even Iraq had 10 friendlies before the Asian up + 3 games in the cup... we had 2!
Amiri did well. I have seen much bigger world players miss penalties... nothing to even think about, let alone blame!

Dude, it's not a good idea to pin a loss and elimination on one player!
Even if one was directly responsible, we should not do it!
We all make mistakes. To err in human.
And it was his first official game, give him a break!
As if anyone here has a 100% record when we start a job that has the resposibility of pleasing 80 milion people!!
And if we decide to go down that path, then we need to include PAG for the penalty-causing tackle, Haghighi for letting in three goals and failing to stop penalties!
Hajsafi and Ghafouri's failures to mark their respective players on the wings on first Iraqi goal.
Hajsafi for missing his penalty.
Pouladi for acting in poor judgement.....
This approach does not help, unless it is done by a professional coach who's analyzing his team and working towards alleviating the weaknesses, not fans seeking to find a culprit to punish!

Not sub him for an unexperienced youth like Amiri! I love CQ but it is only fair to put some blame on him. He is the one calling the shots after all!
Williams is the only one to blame. I bet he knew that Beikzade had left and if he sends Pooladi out Iran would be weak in left side.
CQ should be blamed for not having a better left defence instead of Khanzade.

to be honest, if we're going to point fingers, let's point it at Hajisafi. His first goal aside, he was not effective in my opinion. he missed the penalty...his shots are really awful - in the argentina game he missed (very very badly) a very clear shot on goal that any mid-level player in the world cup would have at least put on goal...in the asian cup he did the same thing. he doesn't have a very good touch, and he needs to work on this ASAP.
anyone agree or see what i saw? i just expect more of him and think he can still develop.

Well, the analysis on Navad of the Iraq game was VERY eye opening [WATCH THE CLIP BELOW]... they quite rightly blamed the Iraq's 1st goal solely on Amiri. He of course missed the penalty as well that needed no mention.
But what they didn't mention is that he was MIA in both the 2nd and 3rd goals as well and just grazing around the field like the 1st goal. He actually moved out of the path of Kasim before he was brought down by PAG.
Honestly, I never one see this guy near TM again.
