    Queiroz: We play 4-3-3

Carlos Queiroz in his interview on Navad confirmed yesterday that his formation is a form of 4-3-3.

This is to some of our dear friends that questioned what we discussed alreday.

    Please view around min 20.

The system is a floating 4-3-3 with a V shape form in midfiled.

During defensive period our wingers move back to close the midfield and form sort of 4-1-4-1.

This happens for majority of period since we play fast direct attacking transition and our wingers quickly move to the wing to form 4-3-3 during attack.

Nekunam is the bottom of V form. Ando to his right has less attacking responsibility than the left side.

Interesting to note that when Azmoun plays, Hajsafi and Shojaei switch position to take advantage of Hajsafi's run and cross in left wing.

Shojaei and Hajsafi switch a lot but Ando hardly does on right. That is because of Ashkan's complete style of play that can do both well.

Hope this settles this discussion as I never found time to draw pics to demonstrate Iran's style and formation.

Maybe soon I can put something together but to just let you know I found carlos system the most effective system of play for the type of players we have. In fact I basically studied, analyzed the system and use it for my youngsters. It helps them a great deal to learn proper defense and quick effective transition.

Kind of funny, watched it live and when he said that I immediately had your post in mind
Nevertheless you can be sure that some will still not accept this, even if the coach confirms it. They will twist/change everything until it fits their opinion.

He did NOT say we play (present tense, carte blanche) a 4-3-3. Please go back and review the interview from minute 18 to 22.

He was talking about the 1st half against Iraq and said we "used [past tense] a formation that was close to a 4-3-3" and went on to say that in the 1st half and 2nd half of other games we played with different formations.

He also pre-qualified both of those statements by saying he doesn't discuss his tactical formations!

We did play close to a 4-3-3 in the 1st half against Iraq and if it wasn't obvious watching the match, it is pretty obvious looking at the average positions and heat maps. That's the only game and only half in which our two wingers were playing in the same line (or even ahead of) our center striker.

a system is only described in numbers when a team is defending. So as u said, if the team is 4-1-4-1 when defending, then the team is playing a 4-5-1 system and not 4-3-3. if CQ says 4-3-3, but only uses 1 FW, 5MF and 4DF, and defends with a 4-1-4-1, then yes sir its a 4-5-1 system of course CQ knows this, but he obviously like many other coaches like to tell fans we play 4-3-3- when it is a 4-5-1

Our style of play is not pretty to many especially those who are less knowledgable about soccer as a science, but it is beautiful to those that get the game. People dont understand that we dont have azizi kia karimi zandi in our team and cant play on the ground like we used to with kia and kaabi on the right and zandi and i cant remember who on the left. Given our players this style is the most effective and efficient and besides bosnia game we have been undefeated in regulation. Argentina was a stoppage time loss and could have been very different had the ref given us that penalty

i agree, you put tactics based on the players you have, tm dont have a good play maker right now, and cq knows that, hence focusing on the other tactics

I for one like the formation and don't find it at all defensive, we just have to pull it off when we got the ball. With this system we can creat more clear/cut chances like we showed against Argentina. Teams find it difficult not only to attack such defense but also defend against such counters.

What I like to see more of is completing passes when we have the ball in the attacking third. I find it most frustrating when we lose the ball, but that's not CQs problem. I bet he gets just as frustrated.

Give CQ some decent facility, friendlies and time and he will accommodate a change with extra penetrative approach with TM.
