First Turkmen in Team Melli squad. In the past there were some at U23, U20, U17 teams but never in Team Melli.
Now there is Azmoun from Gonbad-e Kavous and Ghoochannejhad(whose grandfather Mohammad was born in Ashgabat, Ghoochannejhad's great-grandfather was Nour Mohammad whose ancestors were from Ghoochan in Khorasan, Nournia in his surname comes from his great-grandfather's name).
Abdol Jalil Golchehshmeh top goal scorer in Azadegan League in 1998 never capped for Team Melli! so sad!
This TM represents almost all Iranian ethnicities including Turkmen, Azari, Kord, Lor, Khuzestani, Mazani, etc I wish we could have some players from Baluchestan as well.
He is really proud of his country and his hometown. He has a bright future a head of him, and watching his interview he is a really polite and mature athlete. Hoping for a long and great career for him. Great Asia Cup performance, and more good things to come I am sure.

Iran's cricket team is almost all Baluch
They don't like football. Only Mohammad Momeni who was from Sistan played in Team Melli not sure in Official matches.

Khodadad Azizi is also Turkman. And one of our best!

Iranian media always mistakely said Azizi is Turkmen. However the reality is that he is not. He is a Hazara what in Iran call "Barbari".
Turkmen players at U23 and various youth level were: Salaheddin Onogh, Abdol Jalil Golcheshmeh, Esmail Gharavi, Jalal Ghezel, Shahab Yanpi, Ghadir Ghaffari, Hakim Ghareh Jah, Rasoul Kor according to http://www.ulkamiz.com/modules/news/...m_rootid=7543&
At club level in Azadegan League/Iran Pro League there were others like:
Hadi Bargizar, Mehdi Bargizar, Vafa Hakhamaneshi, Ezzatollah Pourghaz and I'm sure there were many as well.
In Afghanistan they call them Hazara, in Iran they call them Barbari. Khodadad is Iranian. He is from Fariman in Khorasan.
Mashhad, Fariman, Torbat-e Heydariyeh, Torbat-e Jam, Taybad have many Barbari.
Tehran as well, Nan-e Barbari is made by Barbari.
In Tehran they call Khorasani Nan-e Barbari "Nan-e Khorasani" and Tehrani Nan-e barbari "Nan-e Barbari" to distinguish the two different style of Nan-e Barbari.
His escort is like a king making on a tour of duty, wonderful expression of love and pride.
What fantastic story of a youngman from a small town in world's map who is going to play for Barcelona one day. I can just imagine his biography when he retires.
