Azmoun and even Jahanbakhsh have to make an impact in Asia first before they can become household names in Europe. He made a great name of himself in Australia but he still needs to prove himself in continental competitions and what is better than another serious and official tournament versus playing a friendly against Chile or Sweden?

I think it was a wise choice to use the young players in the young TM for the Olympics before we use them regularly in the future in the senior team. I wanted to see them against Chile and Swedn but it was a wise decision IMHO to let them play for the U23 because of their age.

And that's exactly the problem, it's the TM coach allowing them to join the youth team, not the other way round.

Well, after Khakpour gloriously winning an Olympic medal for Iran, I will have to apologize. Lol.

He didn't "allow them" to join Martin jaan - IFF made the final decision on that. But I was referring to CQ's interview where he said Khakpour had told him that he can have those two players - obviously that wasn't true.

At any rate, I don't know why you're being sarcastic about Khakpour winning the Olympics when CQ with all his credentials didn't go beyond the group stage at the WC and didn't do anything that hadn't been done before (either in the AC or WC).

If Khakpour even manages to get us to the Olympics it is a great accomplishment - hell, with how broken TM Omid was just a few months ago, even getting us to the final U-22 Championship is quite an achievement at this point.

As Iranians none of us wish bad on any of our national team. The issue is that under Mayeli and a nobody like Khakpour it will be almost impossible to make it to Olympic. But now if TM omid fails some will call the sane people who can see the team is under the control of morons "plastic fans" and accuse us of wishing bad on TM omid. Same story will happen when main TM fails after CQ.

Just a Reminder:

During this confusion it's good to remember TM Committee / TM Technical committee mainly consist of Pro CQ members . They are not against CQ and most publicly in the past expressed support for him. They simply decided because of National interest 2 players should join Olympic team.

Still amazed how anyone can think prioritizing a youth team over the senior team against the will of the senior coach could be even close to sth like a good idea. And then for this u-23 that won't even get close to Olympics. No coach, no quality no funding.

Some of TM U22 Olympic team are well known. Most fans easily recognize Akhbari ( Saipa keeper) , Karimi & Moradmand ( Sepahan) , Vakia ( Foulad) ,Barzay & Hosseini ( Esteghlal ), Norrollahi ( Perspolis) , Motahari ( Naft ).... there are few players less known but all IPL players like Ali Abdollahzadeh ( SNA), Gudarzi ( MIS) , Turabi ( Saipa) , Fazeli ( Sepahan) , Faramarzi ( Padideh).Most of new players will be reserve players.

خاکپور: در گروه سختی قرار داریم

محمد خاکپور سرمربی تیم ملی امید : من به تیم های حاضر در ایران خوش آمد می گویم و امیدوارم میهمان نوازی ایرانی ها را بببینند.

وی افزود: برخلاف تصورها، گروه ما آسان نیست چون از همه ما از یکدیگر شناخت کمی داریم. به طور مثال من از سه تیم اولی که می خواهم با آنها بازی کنم شناخت بسیار کمی دارم. این گروه می تواند برای هر تیمی سرنوشت ساز باشد و هر تیمی شانس صعود از این گروه را دارد.


از نظر آمادگی بدنی و هم از نظر روحی در بهترین شرایط هستیم و بازیکنانمان از انگیزه خوبی برخوردار هستند. فکر می کنم حضور جهانبخش و آزمون به تیم انرژی مثبت داده است
اما درباره هماهنگی این دو بازیکن با تیم باید بگویم که از آنجا که جهانبخش و آزمون در تیمهای بین المللی بازی کرده اند، به راحتی میتوانند با تیم هماهنگ شوند.
ضمن اینکه این دو بازیکن سالهاست در تیم*های امید و جوانان کنار بازیکنان حال حاضر تیم ملی امید بازی کرده اند و شناخت خوبی از هم دارند.

خاکپور افزود: ما با تمام قدرت بازی ها را شروع می کنیم اما درباره تیم نپال باید بگویم که این تیم فوتبال را منظم بازی می کند با این حال سعی می کنیم بازی اول را با قدرت آغاز کنیم.
وی درباره حضور هواداران در ورزشگاه آزادی هم گفت: همانطور که قبلا ثابت شده، فوتبال جزئی از زندگی مردم است امیدوارم فردا برای حمایت از تیم ملی به ورزشگاه بیایند تا با کمک هم بعد از 44 سال یکی از تیم های صعودکننده به المپیک باشیم. فدراسیون هم برنامه ریزی خوبی برای حضور هواداران در ورزشگاه انجام داده است.

هم درباره حضور تیمش در ایران گفت: خوشحالم که به ایران آمده ایم و از ای اف سی به خاطر برگزاری این تورنمنت تشکر می کنم. ما می دانیم ایران و عربستان تیم های خوبی در گروه هستند و تفاوت بسیاری با نپال دارند اما این مسابقات تجربه خوبی برای نپال خواهد بود و این هم می دانیم فوتبال 90 دقیقه است و سعی می کنیم بهترین عملکرد را داشته باشیم. بازیکنان ما وقتی پیراهن نپال را به تن می کنند برای موفقیت تیم شان می جنگند.

درباره برگزاری مسابقات مقدماتی المپیک در ایران گفت: ما برای حضور در این مسابقات زحمات زیادی کشیده ایم و از فدراسیون فوتبال ایران تشکر می کنم که میهمان نوازی خوبی از ما انجام دادند. گروه ما درست است که روی کاغذ آسان است اما یکی از سخت ترین گروه ها محسوب می شود. اطلاعاتی که من از تیم*ها دارم این است که همه تیم ها شانس دارند صعود کنند امیدوارم ما هم یکی از 16 تیم صعود کننده به مرحله بعد باشیم.وی افزود:

با توجه به اینکه فدراسیون فوتبال افغانستان با سفارت این کشور در ایران هماهنگ های لازم را انجام داده است، دوست داریم هموطنان افغانی که در ایران زندگی می کنند به ورزشگاه بیایند و از تیم ملی کشورشان حمایت کنند.

Some notes about this game:

* Jack Stefanowski (Nepal's manager) is a relatively experienced coach with a UEFA coaching license and having previously managed Puerto Rico's full national team. He has been in charge of Nepal U-22 team for over two years.

* Like Iran, Nepal finished last in their group in the Asian Games but the group included Japan (semi-finalists at the 2010 Olympics who lost to fellow Olympics semi-finalists and the eventual champions of the 2014 Asian Games, S. Korea, in the quarterfinals compliments an 88 minute penalty and a lone goal), Iraq (bronze medalist at the 2014 Asian Games) and Kuwait (3 time Olympics participant).

Although there are no push-over teams at this age group, this is still going to be one of our easier games. I predict a 3-0 victory for TM Omid.
