This will be our future if CQ leaves and Vatani coach takes over.
with this ksa victory, iran will need to beat sweden and the media will flock iff to keep cq so we dont get shamed again like this, horrible performence, could not give azmoun any ball and jahanbaksh was not cordinated with the rest due to lack of pratice
We're through to the next round, but TERRIBLE game plan from Khakpour IMHO. There was absolutely no reason for us to have such a nervous start or to rush the game. We needed a calm and calculated performance and unfortunately he did not deliver.
Unlucky to hit the post twice and the officiating left a lot to be desired, but overall the Saudis deserved the win. Lots of individual errors from our players including so many from JB and Moradmand who's definitely not TM material and got owned quite a few times - his giveaway goal was just the icing on the cake.
The only positive thing I can see coming from this game is that IFF are going to seriously evaluate CQ's situation considering Khakpour's performance. Much improved performance since Vingada and good enough to make the next round, but not to go to the Olympics.
And to those who say we did not need JB and Azmoun, we would have certainly been eliminated from this tournament if it wasn't for their performance in the last game and our high goal difference. At least, we have a few months now to come up with plan "B".

Yeah, tactically TM was VERY poor in all the games. We won by brute force and that won't be good enough in the next round.
We did show that we do have quite a bit of talent and potential, but without a coach who can harness it, that won't mean much.
IMHO, Mansourian should be the minimum coaching standard for this team if we can't afford a world class coach and absolutely MUST stick with a vatani coach.
What a bunch of clowns. Thats why ive never followed our Olympic team properly besides Busan 2002 and Doha 2006.
Sorry but what makes Khakpour qualified enough to be our Omids team coach?
Its better we change the name of our U23 teams anyways, from Omid to NaOmid.
Our football is just so sad that it becomes funny sometimes
1. Khakpour was never good even as a player. I recall watching him on TV when he onley watched the ball going into TM goal.
2. He should resign. He used all the energy of the players in Afghan team becausehe had no idea how the game would turn out if he had pulled out the starters to save them for today.
3. Taromi, Sadeghian sharifat and Abedini each could have done better than any players today
4. the long balls to sardar did not work andthe repeatedly sending the ball the same way was not effective. multiple plans needed to be in place.
5. Perhaps mansoorian can take over . I think the stupid excuses they used to let Kranjkar go was really bad.
6. without sardar and JB perhaps the team would have lost to afghans.
7. the midfielders were leaving a gap and that was open space for saudis to launch counterattacks.
8. Pouraliganji is needed to be on this team. without any doubt
He was the assistant coach to MK for foolad for a few months and left
He was the headcoach of estil azin for 3 months and left
He was the technical manager of the U-23 team for a few months
clearly he is qualified to coach a team that has not been to the olympics since the BeeGees were hot ......
