I rather play the top guns than Arab States. With CQ we have overcome the fear of playing persian gulf states and S Korea. Australia will have a chance of playing the real Asian cup 2014 finalist iran!

Second round, Only one team from each of the 8 groups go to 3rd plus the best 4 2nd placed teams. We are strong and never had problem with this round before but this time there's a chance we might be grouped with Australia, China, Uzbek...So it can get ugly if we don't start and finish strong.

Actually i think the seeding will be done in February and by final draw you mean the draw of the groups

Just checked with 90 and theres an article on the front page about this actually. The seeing will be based on the Januarys ranking and talks about how we are in danger of possibly getting grouped with Australia.

Iranian media dont know what theyre talking about. The january rankings are used for the preliminary round with the lowest seeded teams. The group draw will be in april with the most recent rankings.

Th only good teams in the second pot are Australia,China, Saudi and they all have weakneses. We need to expect at least 12 points against the two minnows of the group and would qualify regardless.Doctor Doom, thr group of death you made is pretty weak actually. North Korea showed they only last 50 minutes a game and have nowhere near their previous workrate. We havent conceded points to Thailand since early 2000's.

As for Qatar, I thibk in a group of Qatar, Bahrain, North Korea, Thailand they would still struggle. They are terrible and if anything put themselves in Pot 1 to avoid us because all the money in the world cant get thrm a win against us.

I think the fifa ranking should be updated soon and given the fact that Australia became a champion they are probably going to climb a lot higher in the ranking and hopefully will be in seed 1. I'm really worried about the last round of WCQ since we could be in the same group as Australia, Uzbekistan and UAE

The media has made this very confusing because they claimed that the current ranking is whats used to do the seeding for the qualifiers and made a big deal out of the fact that Australia is like 10th in Asia in current ranking. Coming from Iranian media, i should have known better.

so yes iran can get eliminated becuase whoever will end up in group of death is expected to NOT be any of the best 2nd place teams. in easy groups 1st and 2nd in those groups will advance
