Judging from the most probable seeding and how convoluted the AFC has made its procedure, apparently some heavy weight teams may not even make it to the second round of the qualifiers!

Iran, South Korea, Japan, Uzbekistan, IAE, Qatar, Oman and Jordan

Crazy to keep crap teams like Qatar, Oman and Jordan in seed 1, while seed 2 has

Australia, Iraq, china, Kuwait, KSA, Bahrain, Palestine, and Lebanon

Only in AFC would you keep Palestine in the same seed as the continental champs, and a level below a team that lost 3 out of 3, Qatar

Thailand, Philippines, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Vietnam, Maldives


Seed 4
North Korea, syria, laos, Kyrgyzstan, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong kong



Qualification for the next round is the group leaders, plus 4 of the best second ranked teams only.

So, we could end up with a PRELIMINARY WCQ group like

Yea its all based on last FIFA ranking and CQ has been screaming about this all along. I don't mind this because this is part of a development program for Asia to make teams more even and competitive.

Judging from the Asian cup, we cant put our B team up against lower ranked team anymore, even Palestine is able to cause an upset.

The draw for the first round with the lowest seeded teams is in february but the draw for the second round with iran is in april so they will use march or april rankings.

hmmm I dont understand why CQ was worried about the current ranking and Australia, uzbek, and china being ranked higher when the draw isnt even until April...

Actually i think the seeding will be done in February and by final draw you mean the draw of the groups

Just checked with 90 and theres an article on the front page about this actually. The seeing will be based on the Januarys ranking and talks about how we are in danger of possibly getting grouped with Australia.
