I think Derakhshan has two to three more chances at winning games in ACL before he gets sacked. He screwed up in IPL so ACL is his last chance at redemption. And based on his recent interview he feels the time has come that he can make a big change. lets see.

Tractor vs. Al Ahli (UAE, 16:00 Tabriz time, 13:30 CET, 07:30 EST
NOTES
* None of the 4 opponents for our teams won their games on Match Day 1. Lokomotiv lost their game while the other 3 tied theirs.
* Neither Naft nor Tractor can afford to lose their 1st home game having lost their 1st games away.
* On paper, the Tractor-Al Ahli game promises to be the most exciting with an open style game and possibly most number of goals, so don't miss than one.
* Mansourian's interview before the Al-Ain match: He says they're very ready, the midfielders are very ready physically and mentally and they're ready to put on a good show. Al Ain's coach says they've come to play a good game and get a good resul, but they'll be happy with a tie.

* Ali Askari will miss PP's game because of a twisted ankle and Abbaszadeh is also not looking good because of being on antibiotics. Norouzi might be okay by game time though.
* It took Foolad 13 hours to get to Tashkent with the majority of that time waiting for their flight in Tehran! Also noteworthy, that the Foolad-Al Sadd game in Ahvaz had by far the highest attendance for match day 1 in West Asia (37,800). Highest attendance in all of Asia was for the Guangzhou vs. FC Seoul match at 47,000.

It is interesting watching Naft. If you watch carefully, in games like Jaish and Pakhtakor, they play a very similar style to CQ's TM.
They let the opponent pass around their back 4 and keep "possession". They have the one striker pressing very high, and a midfielder (usually Ezzati) coming up to join the press, very similar to Ando.
Also their wingers track back very deep. Watch how low Gholamreza Rezaei comes in order to lend a hand to the defenders.
Just an interesting little tidbit.

Just a simple meaningless question to start more complicated conversations

He was only called up once to the national team.
The last he saw of Team Melli in a serious fashion was on the bench vs Russia.
