Qatar or "Qatar", this is not funny anymore

Apparently Fifa has warned "Qartar" about continuance of using naturalised players leading up to 2022. The example of their handball team made up of Spanish, Cubans, French and Montenegro players has been used.

Sob bekhir FIFA! Another highlight of incompetence by AFC too

Not just Qatar! How about others like Bahrain, Azerbaijan. And in Football apart from Qatar and Bahrain others like Japan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Poland, Croatia, Ukraine had done the same by giving citizenship to Brazilians, Iranian-Germans, Yugoslavs and Turks.

In Cricket, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain their entire team is from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

In Rugby, UAE and Japan almost have their full squad of Australian, New Zealander, South African, Irish and British.

I watch the Rugby WC and most of the players in the Japanese squad are Japanese. Btw it's common that national teams have foreign-born players in rugby. just like there is South Africans in the French and Wales NT, Samoans in the English and New Zealand NT etc...

I think the subject of Qatar, how it managed to grab the World Cup, allegation of corruption, the potential change to a Winter World Cup overwhel most other arguments.

Thanks. But still Japan has quite a few non-Japanese in their Rugby team over the years. Maybe now they have more Japanese but before there were more non-Japanese than Japanese.

So what if they keep naturalizing players its not like they will be accomplish anything real. We'll always beat them in the end.

Republic of Azerbaijan have been using so many Iranians in their sporting teams. Applause to Ali Daei, Farzad Hatami and Hossein Rezazadeh for refusing their offer of representing that country.

Here are Iranian Athletes of Rep. of Azerbaijan:

                    Kiyan Soltanpour - Football
                    Pardis Fardjad-Azad - Football
                    Saman Tahmasebi - Greco-Roman Wrestling

Arash Labaf - Euro Vision Song Contest 2009

any more Iranians who represented Rep of Azerbaijan?

Sports like rugby, cricket, baseball even futsal that are still trying to gain recognition and wider audiences can't be compared to established sports like handball and football. But I think the strategy of going for imported players even in growing sports is questionable. The native population has to feel a connection to the team and to the sport. The problem with Qatar is that they aren't even trying to attract domestic audiences towards these sports. Native Qataris are more interested in camel racing and falconry than football and will remain interested only in those sports for a foreseeable future. Qatar is using sports to gain global recognition. It's really a stupid, wasteful reason to involve yourself in sports. They are building shitton of stadiums that they have absolutely no use for. Qatar's leaders really have no understanding of economics, planning and management.
