I don't see this so much these days and frankly I think he would have been more usefull than JB against teams like Iraq.
Any way each time I see IPL games I like these two teams best when I try to be fair. Ali Karimi, Khalatbari, Sharifi and many more greate players.
But Generally our football is full of greate forwards these days. RW, LW and CF's. We only need a brain in CM. A George Haji kind of player.

let's just name a few, and not just throw emotional comments out there:

      Post Revolution:

      Mahdavikia
      Nekounam
      Daei
      Hashemian
      Abedzadeh
      Azizi
      Karimi
      Rezaei
      Teymourian
      Bagheri
      Shojaei
      Dejagah
      Gucci

heck, Gucci scores 13 goals in 22 TM games, and of course a number of those goals were clutch goals. Even Gholamreza Rezaei who played in 50 games, had 11 goals, and those were mostly in WCQ or Asian Cup games.

KB had 60 games with TM, and managed to score 5 goals, 2 of which came against Maldives and the Moroka Swallows. KB's biggest moment from Iranian football came against Uzbekistan. I don't know why people keep thinking he is the savior. What happened in those 60 other games when he did play for TM ????

People confuse good dribbling with playing good football.
What are you talking about man?? KB biggest moment in Iranian football was imo when he scored that beautiful goal against Russia and we managed for only one time to defeat a good team in the world. Since then when have we beat a good European team in a friendly?? huuuh. Some of are you are so ungrateful to some of our former players its unbelievable..

Khalatbari is not an Iranian legend but he clearly was one of our better players, he did a lot for TM.

I agree that he should have never talked shit about CQ though.
He would have an occasional flashes of good play here n there and he was too weak defensively and wouldnt track back as often as he should under CQ, besides he is lightweight and got brushed aside more often than not and often get caught sar-payeeni doing circles around himself trying to dribble the same guy 3 times over..!!
from what i recall, he only had one really solid ALL GAME performance in TM and that was in that 6-0 thrashing of bahrain. he did earn us 3 valuable points away at Uzbeks too with that dying minute goal..!!

Don't trust wiki with that info. I find it hard to believe KB has even 30 caps let alone 60.

Khalatbari was constantly called up under Daei and Ghotbi as well since 2008, during the entire 2010 and 2014 WCQ and played the 2011 Asian Cup too. Those 60 caps seem right to me.

Every player has a function that he does best. KB's best role is openning tight defences. In many games it is absolutely necessary to have someone like that in your line up.

We can all agree that Iran's missing puzzle piece to being a great squad is a real playmaking midfielder like the original Ali Karimi #8. If we had someone like him in his prime, we would have a crazy team. I really feel that the future of our team is dependent on finding a player of the type as Ali Karimi.

Despite us defeating UAE handily (due to our great defense), we should acknowledge that they found a real Asian gem in Omar Abdulrahman. He is a class player with great vision who plays the CAM position well by Asian standards. If he were surrounded by guys like Gucci, Azmoun, and Dejagah, that team would be a force to be reckoned with in Asia and would make a splash at the World Cup.

Hopefully that player steps up soon, as our team going into Russia will probably have aging players like Gucci and Dejagah no longer being able to carry the team along with Teymourian, Shojaei and Nekounam retired.

I would love to see these guys be the future of TM being used heading into WC 2018:

                    ------------------Biranvand----------------
                    Rezaeian-Pouraligangi-Khalilzadeh-Hajsafi
                    -------------Ezatollahi-Ebrahimi-----------
                    Sharifi-------------CAM-------Jahanbakhsh
                    -------------------Azmoun------------------

I'd like for Sharifi to be able to transition into wing play for TM as he is unlikely to dethrone Azmoun in the coming years as the target striker.

I really feel that we have a lot of hungry young talents in Iran and we could build a team full of legionnaire quality players for the 2018 cup.

I see Biranvand, Pouraligangi, Ezatollahi, Jahanbakhsh, and Azmoun easily making it in Europe. Hopefully Hajsafi can make a go in Europe as well, and if we have an up and coming playmaker, hopefully he will be a star like AK8 and play in a top European team.

Once we find this mystery man, we will have an insane team. 30+ year old Dejagah and Gucci will play the parts of veteran talent still helping the team.

I wasn't talking about his "post revolution" list but rather this part:

get a grip ..... it was a friendly against an unmotivated and out of form Russian team. Scoring in friendly games means nothing.

                            in which direction ?

and no, you are wrong. KB's role is best suited for an open game and not against teams packing it in. He is not a physical player, and he certainly will not win the one-on-one battles. That's why his best moments can be seen in games where he comes in as a sub.

Let's not forget the crucial game against Lebanon when our team couldn't get passed their 10 man defense for 40 minutes. Until Khalatbari scored from a moment of brilliance and dribbling 3 players around the box. That goal lifted the pressure and allowed TM to score the next goals.
