That's a good question, hence it is in the mid game time I'll try to do some explanation.

In my knowledge, the "r" in English has two ways of pronunciation: one is just like "j" in "Jean" in French (noted r here), the other like "r" in Spanish or "p" in Russian (noted R here). When we are learning English, we pronounce it in the first way (r). Also in Mandarin Chinese we have a similar consonant sounds like "r", so we can differentiate l and r.

But for R with trilling (alveolar trill consonant in phonetics), very very few Chinese can pronounce it and we don't differentiate it with l.

Coming back to the calling of Iran in Mandarin Chinese, I think the reason is the first one who did this popular translation think it is pronounces like iRan but not iran, so he/she used "l" and it became ilam (in your spelling). (But more accurately it is Yi Lang in Mandarin).

What's more, as you know we have characters and even the same sound could correspond to different characters, when do the translation we should obviously pick a character to show the pronunciation. The standard of choosing character follows the following rules:
            1. The character should carry on good, beautiful mean.
            2. If (1) cannot be satisfied, choose a character seldom used and easy to remember.

The Chinese characters for Iran are 伊朗, 伊 sounds Yi and 朗 souds lang, and 朗 actually carries good mean including "clear", "light" and "bright", much better than those sound "rang" including 让(let), 嚷(shout) and 壤(earth)

Do you think it should be a red card ??? Am I blind?

                Comment

It was not even a foul the referee is very poor in this match. That red card changed the fate of the match.

                    Final result 2-2

Whatever, it is Chinese league not an European league so ... understandable.

What is even more ironic is many many fans claiming "Tianjin won a draw with the help of the referee, because he ignored several penalties and judged several offsides"---- see this is the power of capital!

one of the offside was wrong, but the rest were mostly in Evergrande favor specially from minute 70 to the end. I am sorry to say, the level of referee in your league is terrible. Fans says whatever they want, but most of them have no clue about the rules anyway.

They were just repeating "He is the last defender so shouldn't he get a red card?"----Yeah indeed if he is the last defender AND HE FOULS he deserves a red card, but can they tell me how he fouled? Pulled or pushed or kicked? That's too funny.

Man please understand my bad emotion now. We never won in Tianhe stadium since Guangzhou Evergrande promoted in CSL and this is the best chance since dozen of their players cannot play because of injuries or ban. But the golden opportunity is killed by the f*** referee and what's more three players made me angry: our LB, RB and RM. What's more I really can't understand why Arie Haan insisted to not do the substitution facing the change of the game.

Mate I understand you are upset but Tianjin tied the team in 1st place. Usually the first place teams gets referee favors in most leagues in the world. Also, time to brush off and look to the next match. Tianjin could get into an ACL playoff spot if they keep their form/improve

I didn't watch the whole game. I only watch from second half. Teda is not great at defense, but can have a punch at MF and front line. When he subed Brazilian dude, he took that force out of Teda and still conceded the goal. If you have noticed he released the mistake at the end of the match when he subed the Colombian guy to kill more time in the front instead of defending at Teda's half.

Thanks man, the summer transfer window is approaching and hope we could do some real things to enhance the squads.

Next round will be played on June. 20th, we'll play against Beijing Guoan in Beijing Worker's Stadium.
