Jean Ghafourian, Iranian playing for Bayer Leverkusen U-17
We are currently ranked 38th in the world, one disappointing performance against Turkmenistan or Lebanon doesn't changes that.
The point is that there is no possibility to follow this Shaho Maroufi guy because the 4th league of Switzerland has no TV coverage.
In the world of sports professionals rely on many methods beyond what the average fan has access to. Again stop focussing on where he is now...consider what he might do with proper training and coaching

Sure, but we are statically the best team of Asia since December 2014 without these guys, why would we need them against few minnows?

Only one statistic matters...number of championships. In the end what matters most is winning, ask Argentina and Chile that. I never said we need these guys, certainly not at their current career stage but can you ever have too many chips in poker? Depth on a team goes a very long way so it certainly doesn't hurt to keep an eye out for these guys.
These prospects are right now the most realistic to perhaps get a chance at TM in the next 2 years playing outside of Iran that have not been capped yet. They all play in the 2nd Divisions of their respective country except for Zanjanchi, who plays in the first division of Sweden. Is there a Reza or Dejagah in there? Who knows.
Zanjanchi - IFK Goteburg - Allsvenskan
Rafati - Livorno - Italian Serie B
Zareei - Leixoes - Portuguese Segunda Liga
Etemadi - Almere City - Dutch Eerste Divisie
Norouzi - Vejle Boldklub - Danish 1st Division
Nouri - Ostersunds FK - Swedish Superettan
Nazari - Fredrikstad - Norway 1. Divisjon
Khalili - Byrne - Norway 1. Divisjon

kiarash, are you against depth and strengthening our team? again, im not saying this guy should get a chance now. hell no. the league he plays in is way too low. if IF IF IF he proves to be worthy and is in a decent-good league we should cap him and use him if necessary. does not matter who we play against

Odds are he won't amount to anything, but yeah keeping tabs on if he does eventually move to a decent team is always worth it.

Standards for Team Melli should be set high. Let them become a fixed player in the highest leagues in case they make it, and the TM staff might take a look at them. Etemadi plays in the Jupiler League and he has not been considered at all despite a string of very strong performances for his team Almere City, and it's actually the 2nd highest league of Holland.

Isn't that what we are saying? I am sure Etemadi has been considered just not called up. If he can help the team I am sure CQ will call him and any other player up.
Despite dumb people trying to insult my opinions, I have never advocated that we call up players from 4th divisions of random Euro nations. I think it's quite funny that many here didn't make a huge uproar when an 18 year old Ezatolahi was called up from 3rd division Spain. Imagine if CQ had called up a random 18 year old Iranian, born in Spain, who played in 3rd division of Spain. You would all be saying, who is this guy! We have home-grown talent!!! 3rd division, really!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?
^This is why I consider many of you to be xenophobes. If you don't know what that means, it means you fear/dislike things that are foreign.
Saeid and any other player exported out of Iran is seen as a good prospect, despite their current league/experience. He came from Iran, so he must have potential! I know for a fact that if Daniel Tabrizi or Amin Nazari was on Atletico B, or Racing Santander B, you guys would be having an aneurysm if any of us suggested calling them up.
If some of you don't see a problem with that, you truly are living in a bubble.
It's hypocritical to post supportive messages for Saeid and say he has potential, when you wouldn't do the same for a Swedish based Iranian of the same age in the same league who never came out of the IPL system. Don't sit here and lie to me and tell me that you would all support an 18 year old Daniel Tabrizi playing in 3rd/4th division Spain getting called up to TM. You'd all have a fit. You can't see the potential in the other youngsters as all you know about them is their current league.
We know why Saeid was in Atletico B. We saw that he left Iran and was a prospect in Atletico's youth system with a bright future. We know nothing about a lot of these youngsters and their career paths at age 18. We just assume their trash, because they are foreign to us and we didn't get to see where they started and where they are currently. I think it's truly sad. Some of these guys might be really good, so don't judge them now and make jokes of _____ for TM. You never know. Who honestly thought that a guy from Jupiler league named Reza Ghoochannejhad would take us to the World Cup on his shoulders?
I remember many of you were laughing at the idea of inviting such a player. Especially with his strange career path of taking a break from professional football for school and then transitioning back into football.
Don't knock unconventional players. Massimo Luongo was a nobody last year. Many of you have changed your tunes about players from 3rd/4th division England, Spain, Germany, etc. I remember a while back, people were scoffing at a player like Radjabali-Fardi ever being invited to TM. He plays in 3 Bundeliga!!!
Now that a 3rd division English player named Massimo Luongo is doing well, and transferred up to QPR (very much attributable to his performances on the Australian NT) he will develop further as a player, and many are changing their opinions about 3rd and 4th tier of EPL, Spain, Germany.
Maybe you guys aren't right about what you think are low quality leagues and players. Many say that TM is not where players should make their name, but sometimes a player is better than their current league, and just don't have the name value or representation to get signed by bigger teams.
Postecoglu, the coach of Australia, saw this kid had talent, despite being in the third league. Gave the unproven kid a chance in a camp, and the kid impressed. Beyond his 3rd division standing. He won a spot in the NT, and now he is a starter and will be on a better club as a result.
Maybe a Daniel Tabrizi would show up at TM camp and hustle and show himself, play a role in TM, and garner more attraction from decent teams in a similar way. How do we honestly know that wouldn't happen? Not inviting Iranian players who are developing in other leagues, many who were part of top teams' youth development does us no favors. CQ has camps of 60 players sometimes. Why not do a camp with 20 players of note from abroad?
They all suck in the camp? No harm, no foul. Send them all home. One shows himself to be the future AK8? Maybe give him a shot in an upcoming friendly.
I don't know why so many people are against this. I truly believe it is the Iranian xenophobic nature, where we want foreign things to fail, and national grown things to succeed. Makes us feel better as Iranians as we think we created an Ezatolahi, or a Jahanbakhsh, we don't believe that we built a Tabrizi, Radjabali-Fardi or Tafazolli. They are foreign to us, so we better hope that IPL can produce better than Hertha Berlin, Sunderland, and ______'s youth development program.

I didn't red your whole comment, but I think I can explain this part.
We all know Ezzatollahi, as he was the best young player in PGL 2 yrs ago and he ued to play in U17.
Everyone considers him to be the one talented guy. I don't plan to watch a 22 years old playing in 2. Swedish League-
It's a bit harsh to say that everybody is xenophobe cause we would rather have Ezzatollahi in Team Melli and not any 2. Swedish League Player with no playing time. If there would be spotlight on theese players...

First and for all when responding to someone read their whole comment. Second of all. I understand your point it fair but why not cap them. Just why not? Why let other nations take them if they pull it off?
So when do we just cap them for fun? To cap tie a player it has to be a competitive game. I don't think queiroz is going to risk a bunch of 3rd and 4th division players to see how good they are in an important game. It makes much more sense to play them at the u17, u20, and u23 level to see how good they are instead of just giving them a go in tm.

It has to be a fifa game. Now you can make use of friendlies with Palestine and Kuwait. Although I don't agree with cap tying a player just because he is Iranian. We don't want players who would rather play elsewhere but settle for Iran either.
