I don't have any quotes but the UAE game in the 2010 qualifier with only 36K in the crowd was louder when AK scored than the 90,000+ at almost all the college football games in the states I've been to.

When there is a decent amount of people that stadium is really a special place.

The funniest thing about being in Azadi for a TM match is when the "leaders" try to get people to chant because it always backfires, yet they always do it.

No matter what the leader asks people to repeat, be it "ya ali" to "ma gol mikhaym" everyone just yells "k#$-e nanat".

It's so bitarbiyat, but it makes me laugh every time

The last time I went to Azadi was on march 25, 2005 when iran played Japan in a wcq match and won 2-1
There was 120000 people there and the most unbelievable feeling I have ever experienced even as I am typing these words I am getting goose bumps about it
Besides a few wrestling tournaments including world championships and World Cup of wrestling in iran inside a closed building , I have never ever seen or heard an stadium that loud like Azadi

My last game at Azadi was in late fall of 1370. It was a Tehran League club game between Esteghlal and some other time that I forget and have never been able to find in any online source of archived games. The other team went up 1-0 and held the lead with about 10 minutes to go until Mehdi Fonoonizadeh tied the game up with a free kick and it ended 1-1. I remember I was sitting in one corner of the stadium and it was so cold. There was a bearded young soldier with an accent (possibly from another) next to me and in reality we didn't look like we had a lot in common. But after the other team's goal we were both celebrating together the fact that Esteghlal was losing. One thing he cheerfully said that even during the game with Esteghlal trailing I thought was wishful thinking (even though it sounded nice) was "یک گل دیگه هم بزنه دیگه استقلال کارش تمومه."
Does anyone know who the opponent was? Or have any link to Tehran's 1370 league games?
