I think the April rankings come out a week before the WCQ draw

I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

That's way too high for them. They did not make it out of the group stage in the Asian Cup for the 2nd time in a row

We have been ranked 1st in the FIFA AFC Rankings since December 2014 btw. Only Japan took our place in August and November or we would have been on the 1st place for almost a half year.

Just thought it's worth mentioning that we're ranked ahead of Sweden (45) while Chile is ranked 15th.

                      thanks..

this means, if we lose to Sweden, who are lower ranked we lose a lot of points, whilst if we beat Chile who are much higher ranked we win a lot points.
It actually doesnt matter in theory where we stand in ranking, but in practice it matters when it comes to draws etc...

In the end of the day, what matters most is we are playing decent friendlies versus decent teams, everything-else is irrelevant.

No teams "lose" points after losing FIFA matches, they just don't gain any points (similar to league/group games). Thus, we could play 10 friendlies and lost all of them, and it would be equivilant to playing no friendlies as far as FIFA rankings are concerned.

                            oh.. ok.
I thought we could lose points in friendly matches too.

You are correct in that you can't get negative points from losing matches, but you still can and most likely will lose points after losses in two ways:

1 - Only the last 4 years are taken into account with the FIFA rankings, so each month your results from 4 years ago will drop off completely and be replaced with the new month. So, as an example if you had gained 6 points in March of 2011 and gain 0 points in March of 2015, the 2011 points will drop off the April 2015 ranking and be replaced with the 0 points, making you lose overall points. I just used a simple example, but in reality the most recent matches have the most relevance.

2 - The number of points you have gained in the last 12 months are averaged. So, aside from the points from 13 months ago dropping off that calculation (just like the above), lower points in the new month will bring down your average and result in a net loss of points.
