So the same monsieurs that have no problem with Iran having just finished 6th in Asia (our worst finish EVER in the Asian Cup) under an experienced world class coach and while we were one of the top 4 favorites, are now expecting Khakpour (a shitty vatani coach with no experience as they call him) to finish in the top 3 in Asia along with 2 of the world's top teams, while we're not even ranked in the top 10 in Asia!!!
Go figure! The logic (if one exists) escapes me, but whatever - lol.

TM Omid is as important if not more important than TM as these are the future players of that same TM you are all backing. I have no idea why some of you treat and speak of TM Omid like it's another country or some sh*t. Some reactions during the Nepal game are incredible, khoda midoone if we won by less goals.
This is Australia's under 23 squad for the qualies
As you can see, some players like Taggart (Fulham), Brad Smith (Liverpool), Mustafa Amini (Dortmund) and others all playing in Europe AND for their senior TM are selected. So all of you moaning should know that this is a decision that was taken for Iran, not for TM Omid or TM. The Olympics IS a big deal, it's the most important tournament after the WC and we haven't qualified in decades even with more talented players, so we should use all the help we can get.
Perhaps either some of you are only interested in TM just for your own entertainment, having the whole team in friendlies so you can personally enjoy all the players, or the other option is the usual CQ said he wants the players, so whatever CQ says, anyone that says the opposite is saying plain shit and is wrong.
Jahanbakhsh isn't even a fixed player and gets very little playing time under CQ, Azmoun has Gucci as his replacement which isn't much of a downgrade, this is also the opportunity for players inside Iran that have less exposure than these two get some playing time and get noticed. So much useless negativity and drama lately, absolutely insane...

lets impale then decapitate all vatani coaches starting with khakpour how dare he invite under 21 year olds to olympic team after all olympics is not half as important as friendlies against sweden and chile, after all azmoun and jahanbakhsh have been playing every game for tm. there is no doubt about who is wrong in this situation.

+ Abdul Zahra was just BS. The plan was to get Iranians blaming someone else other than CQ/IFF.
+ You may not have blamed Ghalenoei but other Khaye mals did. They said because of his interview before Iraq game, Iran lost. LOL.
+ Trust me mate, the previous Team Melis have had MUCH MUCH worse poor field conditions.
+ Bad referee decisions are part of the game, IMO Williams was right on the second yellow to Pooladi but defo harsh on the first.
Next.
if u had any common sense you would know that these two friendlies are the first top quality friendlies TM has gotten in the last 4 years. IFF's lack of money and planning is what has screwed TM the most in terms of preparation.....if any coach had to prepare TM under the circumstances CQ did going into both the WC and AC the results would have been atrocious.
how the hell is the Abdul Zahra case bs? he was doping, it was proven, and it wasn't addressed.
you bringing up the previous TM's is even more laughable as their results weren't nearly as good as this TMs.
you're by far the most blind "fan" I have seen on this boards in all my years here if u actually mean what you are saying. disgusts me that an Iranian would defend Williams before CQ....you're worse than the people who don't want to follow TM anymore because CQ is leaving. don't you call yourself a TM fan.Team Meli Iran

Really ... it'd be better if we actually read and kept up with the news before we made such statements. They received hardly any attention from the IFF, very little warm up games, and crummy prep.“It is easier to fool the people, than to convince them they have been fooled." - Mark Twain

They way you are talking, with or without JB/AZ, we are a longshot for the Olympics regardless. I happen to think otherwise, but based on your stance 1 week ago it looks like things have changed a lot for you.
One must look at everything with perspective and the two most important parts of that here are looking at the history and past record of TM Omid AND using the same standards to evaluate the achievements of TM Omid that we do for the full NT.
As far as history and past record go, not only has TM Omid NEVER qualified to the Olympics (since the U-22/23 format was introduced), we have NOT EVEN made the final round of qualifying on other than one occasion in 2004!!!
That's a total of 6 previous tries in just one of which we even made the final round of qualifying. So based on that record if Khakpour manages to even get us to the final round this time, he has achieved something that has been achieved only once in 24 years!
So as far as using the same standards to evaluate his performance vs. someone like CQ, to say that Khakpour MUST qualify for the Olympics or he's a total failure, would be equivalent to saying CQ MUST have qualified to the round of 16 in the World Cup and because he didn't he's a total failure.
As you can see, when you put things in perspective and look at them objectively, Khakpour needs all the help he can get and must have everything at his disposal - that included JB and Azmoun - to just get us to the next round.
That would be the equivalent of CQ having reached the World Cup, although even that's pushing it considering we reached the WC twice in the 14 years before CQ took over TM and the final round of Olympic qualifiers only once in 24 years before Khakpour took over. And not to mention that in an equivalent situation, we would have wanted CQ to reach the WC without Ashkan and Gucci!
All of us were of course very happy that Iran reached the WC and most of us (myself included) gave CQ pretty high marks for that achievement. And IMHO we should do the same for, and feel the same about, TM Omid and Khakpour reaching the final round of the qualifiers.
We can all of course HOPE that we go much further and MUST give 'em our full support to do so.

To bring up the 6th place finish without mentioning that doesnt make much sense. This is youth football, the korea and japan teams that finished 3rd and 4th are completely different teams. But that being said, they seem to have u23 level down and will probably make it. The third spot is up for grabs and since its a tournament format this time, its possible Iran gets it if the individual talent can turn into a team by january.
That's just the nature of the beast and the overall responsibility of success must lay solely with the coach. That's of course my opinion and I use the same standard to judge my own performance in a team environment where I'd be the leader.
And we can go through this again and again and we can blame Williams for everything, but we must also consider the possibility that had CQ not criticized Williams so heavily in a game we had easily won 2-0 for calls that made no difference to the result of the game, would Williams had done the same in our game against Iraq?!
And there are many other factors that played into that loss, including missed penalties - again! CQ blamed that on the rain before the game that prevented him from evaluating the penalty takers more. Although it rained for Shenaishil as well (and they cancelled two practice sessions vs. our one) he didn't need to blame anything because he was already prepared for that scenario.
Ultimately, if the argument was that the result is all that matters (which was a consistent argument in evaluating TM's performance under CQ), that's all we should be looking at IMHO.

And the lunacy just won't stop Apparently CQ was not only the first coach to criticize an incompetent ref after a game, he was also supposed to be psychic and predict that the exact ref would be appointed to our first elimination match against all reasonable expectations! I'm as jaded as it gets when it comes to AFC, and even I was surprised when the nimrods pulled this stunt. You wouldn't even see this in Africa. When there have been issues after a match regarding a ref and a coach has been fined for criticizing him, the last thing you'd expect is for that exact ref to be appointed just two matches later to a game involving that same coach! Because the cup organizers know doing something like this at the very least generates unneeded controversy and at worst it results in what we got.
And the suggestion that CQ's criticism was 'unnecessary' is equally baseless. Williams was letting Bahrain players get away with repeated fouls and elbows to the point Haghighi finally took it upon himself to body check one of them because he could see the ref wasn't doing anything to stop him. It's perfectly normal for a coach to call out this crap after a match and it's silly to pretend otherwise. The only thing wrong and out of the ordinary was on AFC's part.

Unlike you, I'm not an expert in lunacy but one would think that...
... LUNACY is failing to acknowledge that it's EXTREMELY rare for a manager to criticize a ref after a winning game.
... LUNCAY is failing to acknowledge that it's EXTREMELY rare for a manager to name individual instances where a ref should or should not have handed out yellow cards which would have made no difference to the result of the game.
... LUNACY is failing to acknowledge that it's unheard of for a national team manager in a tournament to say a ref is not at the level of the tournament or even worse the game, AND
... LUNACY is failing to acknowledge that Williams was the way Williams was and CQ ought have known about it and shut his mouth after the game, had he done his homework right.
On that note, I suggest you recite the following Pink Floyd lines until you figure out where the lunacy lies
How you see Williams:
The lunatic is on the grass.
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs.
How you see CQ:
"I can't think of anything to say except...
I think it's marvelous! HaHaHa!"
How you see yourself in all of this
Got to keep the loonies on the path.
How it really is
The lunatic is in my head.
The lunatic is in my head
There's someone in my head but it's not me.

only someone who is wearing dark shades doesn't see the whole picture ........ His reason for quitting is not Azmoun or JB. That may have been the tipping point, but it was not the reason as you mistakenly claim.
a worldclass coach has a set of expectations far different than a hezbollahi coach. The worldclass coach expects some level of professionalism from the football federation. Granted, this is Iran, and he has adjusted somewhat, but paying salaries on time, having good training facilities, and good teams to train with are a minimum set of requirements that any worldclass coach will ask for.
The hezbollahi coach on the other hand, expects to have a working fax machine. Do you want to have a working fax machine as your ultimate goal? if so, then you are on the right track.
For the rest of us, a working fax machine is not the standard. In fact many of us do not even remember how to use a fax machine. We have progressed.“It is easier to fool the people, than to convince them they have been fooled." - Mark Twain
