Well, someone somewhere has to break the ice...if I can make any one person think just a second, hey maybe O-Zone is right, and try to add more kindness and respect to their posts I will do it. Unfortunately this seems to be more difficult as time progresses since the forum has many new and valuable members added daily and I know the mods are over-worked as it stands. I only focus on posters I enjoy reading, or know will hopefully contribute valuable info (so as pointed out earlier, much of the ill-will is missed). I hope more senior members will start displaying more good will and respect towards eachother which can be a teaching point to junior members. I am not saying agree with everything arseces says, but he is a valuable contributing member who can be a positive influence

But this is the luxury of being a fan! FANS do this in all avenues of sports. All fans "think" they know what is best, that is why they are so pationate. Don't take my word for it, turn onto sports talk radio and listen to the call ins. My beloved Toronto Maple Leafs get ripped day in day out, "fire the coach" "trade this player" "he is not captain material"...it happens in all sports crazy cultures and worlds. TM has some of the most ardent fans, passionate....please don't punish us for being fans of our team! We all approach things differently, some of us positive, some negative...some of us catastrophize, some of us are more resilient, others more adaptable...our coping mechanisms are different, but what is the same, is that we all love TM.

Just a snippit of what fans in other sports do...nothing nearly as damaging as what we are seeing here:

    http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-...jerseys-on-ice
http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...s-a-thing-now/ (read the fan comments on this one below)...

As an example, Bi-Honar took a ripping from everyone and he was called some nasty things. But tell me how is it that this same guy, was the guy we all thanked after the Iraq match...if I recall it was him who brought up the doping scandal first, and rallied everyone to work tirelessly against the corruption that hit our team. I do not for a second doubt any of your passions...why focus on the different coping strategies and attitudes we have, when instead you can focus on the same love for TM we all have?

I don't agree with that part and we can agree to disagree on this point. The way I see it, the game plan was significantly different than our previous games in that we pressed more and set the tempo for the game from the very start - we already agreed on this part.

I did not predict at all that we would play like that (even on a more offensive scenario) and I don't think anyone else did either, because we never played like that against decent teams. Yes, it was a pleasant surprise, because I've always wanted us to play that way and ALWAYS have said that if we play(ed) that way, the results would be very different.

Like I said to Nader, my prediction in the Bosnia game was a win (not a 3-1 loss) even though we were weaker on paper, but that's because I thought we were going to play the pressing style in that game that we played in our friendlies before the WC or against Chile yesterday.

Having predicted a 3-1 loss to Bosnia would not have been stupid or demeaning in hindsight. That's the nature of the game and its unpredictability as Nader said or the reason they say the ball is round and anything can happen.

At any rate, I'll just refrain from making any other predictions about TM as to not cause so much heartache and stress for fellow TM fans!
Well, no. You said we would lose 3-1 regardless and that is exactly the reason why people including myself think it is not about the game plan for you, but some other issue you might have with CQ or the team. I have repeated this point three times now and am getting tired of rehearsing the same thing again and again. Feel free to predict whatever result you want, I won't be trying to explain to you what logical fallacies you keep suffering from.

I remember how back in the days (in the old forum, but also after the crash in 2004 when Branko was the coach) we'd have some serious long discussions without anyone resorting to insults, finger pointing, labelling etc.

Everyone treated eachother with respect, almost always started with "X/Y jaan..." and never made it personal, no matter how much they differed in opinion. I remember how f.e. Mansoor and I went back and forth about Branko, but always remained respectful towards eachother.

Those were the good old times.................sigh I sound like an old man

You know why? Because I was the Chief Moderator then...I ruled with an iron fist! LOL Sorry I felt like tooting my own horn. Seriously though, the guys do a fantastic job, but to be honest, this site has grown and grown fast...change is happening, and old timers need to model positive behaviour...but those were fun fun days!

Besides he is 30-31 and by the WC he'll be 33-34. If he's this slow and error prone now, how much more slower and error prone would he be by then? So why not invest in a couple of younger players who WILL be available for the WC.
true, we badly need to rejuvenate our MF and i definitely woulda preferred a younger and more experimental squad call up for these friendlies ..!!
but from the list of players available to CQ for that game, there wasnt another more deserving of a stating spot over Massoud.
and yes you highlighted Massoud's negatives fine, but you also eluded to much of positives in his game..!!
yes, he was a bit of lightweight and didnt really press defensively as well as Ashkan, yet he also broke down the opposition with at least a couple of beautiful through passes, one which led to 2nd goal and he also wreck havoc in opposition box twice, took on and blew by quiet a few Chile defender ..!obviously he wasnt instinctive and quick enough as say Reza, to finish off those chances in the small window of opportunity afforded to him to unload a shot into goal..!!
what im saying is you can't expect too much from the guy, and gotta judge the player as an Overall package..!! i dont know of many other AM options currently available to CQ that honestly coulda been a clear better option OVERALL ..!!

its the same reason i don't want Javaad to retire.... the guy is still one of the top two prospect in his playing position and so long he play like it then he deserves his place, irrelevant of his age..! do i think he should play 90min in a meaningless friendly though...!!! No

its also the reason i wanted Azmoun in our WC team..!!only after watching him play some 50-60minutes in a Rubin friendly..!!
i didnt give a fk how young and inexperienced he was, fact was that his sheer quality was superior to that anyone else vying for his playing spot and CQ's TM could have badly used his services at WC, especially vs Bosnia ..!!

In general, Cant say i care for CQ's reluctance to introduce new blood to TM, unless his back is against the wall and desperate for it..!! he isnt proactive enough on that front for me..!

I have yet to watch the entire game. But looking through the highlights it seems that there is a new attacking dynamic and our boys look pretty confident with the system. They play the ball back to teymourian or nekounam and make a run for it, and it worked many times and gave chili a tough time obviously.

I did the duty of looking through chilis team and seeing how strong of a team they started against us. A majority of their players believe it or not were 30 caps plus. The one midfielder Pulgar and 2 defenders were new guys. Everyone else was highly capped. Also, they took almost all of these new guys out with their subs (which left them plenty of time) yet they still werent able to change the result.
Chileans are good footballers and some of the most physical south americans. So in summary, it wasnt 100% world cup chile, but it was around 80% of it. And for us to beat them without conceding is great considering they beat the united states 3-2 with a lineup similar to this game(some new players. I was very happy to see nekounam so active and amiri score a goal, I know his heart still burns from that penalty. Overall the team looks focused and thats always a good thing. All I can hope now is that somehow CQ will stay because if not this will be one of the biggest if not the biggest injustice to our football.

I was reading comments on facebook about our game and guess what my hamvatans. Lots of people respect our team now. ! There were many south american and other fans saying Iran is a respectable team and that chile should have expected a hard game. They were calling out bein sport for calling it an embarassing result, implying that iran is a bad team. CQ and our players worked hard and now have made our name more respectable and its all about to go to shit

We were also missing some of our starters.

But my favorite aspect of the team was their confidence and awareness. It seemed liked every time someone received the ball, they knew exactly what their move should be. No one looked lost or shaky. Especially in defense. Instead of just booting the ball, a few passes were strung together to create space and maintain possession.

I made no prediction for TM going on all out attack from the start and setting the tone of the match, but if you think you're clairvoyant and that's the scenario I had in mind, or that I've been lying through my teeth in half a dozen very calm and polite responses I gave you already, then by all means feel free to continue repeating the same incorrect statements again and again. A couple of years back we had the most racist people on here talking trash about every other culture. My brother and myself have taken a step back from this forum numerous times, because of stupid comments that ended up staying on this forum. We have been racist against blacks, arabs, chinese and any other culture you can imagine.

I blame the moderators or lack there of for the way this forum has gone. The growth of this forum in the last 4-5 years has not had the same growth in structure that this forum deserves. There is lack of moderating in terms of racism, bigotry and people that are generally dumb.

You might want to rethink that Doktor jaan... you don't want to end up being on the pessimistic side if we play another good game and end up beating them 4-0!

On that note, I'm not taking any chances in this one and predicting a 12-0 for Iran.
