I don't need to check the stats, I watched the game!!! Until now, the whole argument was that possession stats mean jack shit (and frankly I've always agreed with that), now you're saying forget about the goals, forget about what actually happened in the game and stats are all that matters!
Whether you commit 1 person or 6 people to a counter-attack it makes very little difference to your possession stats as does how far up the field you press and force the critical errors.
Plus, the 2nd half and especially the lat 30-35 minutes completely skewed the possession stats - we barely had 10% possession in that period. I'd be more interested to know what the possession stats were for the 1st half or 60 minutes.
If you want meaningful stats, we scored twice as many goals in this game as we did in the World Cup and just as many goals as we did in our two last group games in the Asian Cup and that's the only stat that matters at the end.
Rewatch the game man. 1st half possession was 38% to 62% against Iran.
Obviously you were playing close attention. Someone said it best, Chert o Pert. Your argument fails, just admit it. Why are we Iranians so proud that we can never accept being wrong?
BTW for those that dont know - Chile played USA in January and used their B team against USA's strongest team and USA lost 3-2. I think that alone shows how strong our team is and how amazing this result was playing mostly against their A team. Lets not forget if Mena and Vidal didn't play, We didnt have Pooladi, Jahanbakhsh, Azmoun and Hajsafi neither
The team that beat the USA was weaker than the one we played. That team consisted of all players from the Chilean league wheras our game versus Chile started out with players from QPR, Fiorentina, Boca Juniors, Celta Vigo, Barcelona, Mainz, Hannover and Cruzeiro/Internacional from Brazil
solid performance, thank you CQ , finally CQ was getting a grip on this team but the incompetent IR had let him go, its a shame
as you all may know I always was highly critical of CQ;s defensive tactics, but I have to say today he impressed and only if he had provided such tactical plan to the team past few years we would have happier memories !
with respect and love abtin jan but come on now, just read what you wrote and see how silly that sounds. it is his plan to win every game but lets presume you are right, you mean to tell me he only planned to win just to shut iff up? what about the games before? they were not important?
