Except you can't even credit CQ with this victory. Iran did not park the bus like it ALWAYS does under CQ irrespective of its opponent. He has one foot out the door and he grew some magical balls and told the boys to starts pressing hard. Which lead to a rather remarkable dismantling of the Chilean side in the first half. But as soon as we scored the second goal. We went back to the good old park the bus tactics. My problem with this is that we don't need to park the bus. It's kinda like getting into a ring with a midget and then suddenly coiling up into the fetal position in the middle of the ring and getting kicked and punched. We were dominating them, we were up 2-nil, we could keep up the pressure, and utterly destroy them the same way Germany destroyed Brazil.
He is a coward. He had no faith in Portugal let alone our boys. He downplays our team and our boys at every chance her gets. And he embarrasses our nation internationally for his own benefit: kit scandal prior to WC. Friendly scandal prior to Asian Cup, saying Iran doesn't even have the quality to come out of its group, etc. Even the way team melli defends vis a vis defending areas/zones on the pitch rather than marking players is highly suspect, and gives the opponent time and space to penetrate it. He just needs to go. I'd take Ostad Asadi over him at this point. Atleast he wouldn't say our kits shrink to the international media before the WC, making us a global laughing stock in the world and reinforcing the idea that Iran is this piss poor, broken back desert country in the middle east with camels as main mode of transport.

as I said I was always critical of him even when majority here were singing kumbaya after every poor performance in the past, but in recent games he has proven that his team is getting well suited to his ideas,
in regards to his side issues I have to say he had more side issues than any other TM coach , but some of them he was not entirely to blame for , I would blame IFF and kafashian for incompetency for most of the issues,

If you think we could have beaten Chile 7-0 like Germany beat Brazil you just have no understanding of football at all.

Most of the criticism I read here and which also comes out of Iran is based on a delusion of grandeur,
a cultural phenomena deeply rooted in the iranian mind which suggests that persians are the best in everything and our national team should be playing the best football in the world.

Besides, it didn't even make sense.
The author was so desperately trying to find an excuse for park the bus tactics that with Iran's win, got all confused with rush of adrenaline to quickly take advantage of the win to push his silly agenda. Its very first line was wrong. The fact is that we didn't park the bus in this game. So this win is actually living proof of why we SHOULD NOT park the bus .... especially for lesser teams like Qatar, Uzbeks, .... . if it works vs. Chile, then it surely works against shitty teams too
