I totally agree with you asreces jaan, that this was TM's finest performance along with the Argentina game - both games showed what our real capabilities are and that we can rough it out with some of the best teams in the world.

And your last sentence pretty much sums up the issue for me. I prefer a more attacking style of football and that's a preference that goes back to watching the game since I was a little kid. CQ only came into that picture 4 years ago, so this has nothing to do with him and I have no idea why some people take it so personally if you have a different preference, as if you're swearing at their mom or sister!

Having said that, our performance against Chile was more than fine even though it wasn't an all out attacking game - it was GREAT. We had a balanced approach that showed both our defensive and offensive capabilities. Until this game, most people kept talking about how CQ had made our defense solid and he had, but how many people mentioned anything about our offense being good?!

Aside from the fact that you can't win games without scoring, the main job of your offense (paraphrasing Pele) is to take the pressure off your defense. You can't pile the pressure on your defenders IMHO and expect them to perform game after game in a tournament setting without cracking. We saw this both in the Bosnia and Iraq games and had we played the rest of this game the way we did in the last 30-40 minutes, we would have seen it again.

That's why a balanced approach is what we need and TM showed against Chile not only that they're capable of that but that they actually thrive in that scenario. I always said that was the way to go and I'm happy to see that and I would have been much happier if I saw it much more frequently.

If we had seen this much more frequently (i.e. without a 9 month hiatus after the Argentina game), no one would have dared to put him in a situation where he was forced to quit. How many people in Iran came out criticizing our performance against Argentina!? How many of them have you heard saying a single word after this game?! Because it's very difficult if not impossible not to be happy about this result, let alone criticize the overall performance.

99.999% of Iranians (i.e. almost everyone who doesn't have anything to gain financially from CQ's departure) want TM to succeed. That's what some people here don't seem to understand. They think some of us in the 25% that didn't give CQ high approval ratings have something to gain from his departure! What the hell do I have to gain from CQ leaving or TM being without a coach or getting bad results?!

If he can play this style and get these results he has my vote to stay forever! I doubt many people in the 25% (or 12% or whatever the number is) disagree with that. Everybody loves TM, everybody loves a win and I think almost everybody loves a well played balanced game where we fight like men but don't come out with a win (i.e. Argentina game).

I'm pretty sure no one wants to see us go backwards at this point and undo what has been gained in the past 4 years. And I'm pretty sure everybody would be happy if we're constantly moving forward and building on what has been gained in the past 4 years and what we have learnt in the past 20-30 years. We just need to learn to agree on a happy medium for success, both in here and out there.

If we can't put together a blueprint of success in here with a few dozen educated and professional people, it's pretty silly to accept it will happen out there on a large scale from the bunch that's running the IFF or other organizations in Iran.

The author was so desperately trying to find an excuse for park the bus tactics that with Iran's win, got all confused with rush of adrenaline to quickly take advantage of the win to push his silly agenda. Its very first line was wrong. The fact is that we didn't park the bus in this game. So this win is actually living proof of why we SHOULD NOT park the bus .... especially for lesser teams like Qatar, Uzbeks, .... . if it works vs. Chile, then it surely works against shitty teams too
What I'm actually confused about is on whose payroll are these people are operating on. Is it CQ? Is it GN's opposition groups like Navad? What do they gain from this antagonistic anti-Iranian coach propaganda? And this one was honestly the most putrid, biased piece of writing I've ever read on any subject matter, let alone football. Clearly commissioned but by whom is the question.

Right on the money. These CQ worshipers mostly claim to be anti-IR. But the way the choose to revolve their difference with a different point of view stinks of basiji zealot ideology. Akin to those that harass women on the streets of Tehran for showing "too much" skin or hair. Trying to force feed you their idolatry while at the same time crying blasphemy and call for a lynch mob with pitch forks. Basically a tamer version ISIS terrorists.

Perfect observation!! I always get reminded of ISIS when those terrorists Jalal Hosseini and Ashkan Dejagah spread their filthy propaganda about CQ being some kind of great coach or something!! One day they will pay for this treason, my friend. We'll make sure of it! All we have to do is free you from that psych ward and we're on the way.

And what's with Neymar going down in agony with every little touch. He is either trying to manipulate the refs or should not be playing football if he is that fragile.

In his defense Medel put a good 200 lbs. on his calf, unprotected part of the shin pad with cleats. Been there been done by that - not fun!
