    ^^^

In all fairness, I don't think either team exceeded 3 subs. As far as Iran is concerned, I only remember three subs (Masoud > Ebrahimi, Gucci > Ansarifard, Amiri > Rezaian).

^ i think Chile had more than 3 subs, at least 4...??

but us only subbing in 3,(mostly safe bets) further proof to what i was saying..!!

i dont want to under-estimate this impressive win, but i certainly wouldnt consider it anywhere near the Best TM Result Ever sorta charts..!!

No it was not. We played with our A team while they played with their B(Olympic) team.

considering Chile has one of its best teams in their history, this result was one of our best ever,

However you have no note that Chile probably did not play with the maximum intensity and ability which they would in a world cup or copa america game

for the non-communist countries, the Olympic teams used amateur players. It was not an A or B team discussion. It was their amateur team. Ofcourse Iran, back then, whether it was the olympic team or WC team, most of the players were not considered true professional players

This Iranian TM is the best ever. You should be blind not to see it. If AFC was not corrupted we should have been in Final.
But they are. Iran is at the moment best in Asia. Australia is also a strong team but they are not really in Asia. 1- Iran 2-South Korea 3- Japan 4- UAE Watch for Saudi in the comming year.

Greatest result? NONSENSE! This has been the single greatest victory and achievement obtained by Iranians in the last 7000 years of recorded history! They have found carvings in the burnt city foretelling the descent of King CQ from the heavens of africa upon us. The great liberator! Long live King CQ! OMG, I'm in tears right now. I can see his glorious face reflected on the moon! Praise god, oops! I mean PRAISE CQ!!!

I think so. Don't remember beating a better team.

Yes, few guys hear said it was not our greatest result, however they did not say which match was better. As i said only resultwise guys. 2:0 on paper vs Chile. As far as i can remember, weve not even beat a world class team other than yesterday?

we certainly started the game with our strongest lineup, and most everyone played a pretty lively and spirited game..!! on the other hand Chile coach had clearly under-estimated us and our players' motivation for a win in this game by starting a experimental side..!! by the time he tried to make adjustments with subs it was too late and he had to contend against the great wall of CQ..!!
i think if Chile had started the game with the best line up, we still were likely to beat them the way TM showed up today..!!
but im not so sure we woulda won if this wasnt a friendly ...!!???
we didn't have our strongest line-up. No Hajsafi, No Sardar, no Jahanbakhsh

It's a good result but calling it the "greatest result ever" for Iran is a stretch. Chile didn't start their strongest line-up to begin with.

Its not iran greatest result but just because chile didnt start with all their starters doesnt mean they didnt play them. By 45-60 min it was chile's strongest team other than vidal and they still didnt score

I dunno this victory is certainly sweet and salient but there also was...WC98 victory over USA (high pressure). Russia was also pretty nice as a friendly result. Don't forget Iran 1-0 Ireland in 2001 WC playoff (Ali Karimi was a beast in both Ireland matches)...honourable mentions to Iran 3-1 Hungary (1977), Iran 1-0 USSR (1976)...just to name a few that I am aware of or have seen.

BTW according to Eloratings...this victory moved us into 29th position and Chile down to 9th in the world.

I watched parts of the game, but Chile basically played with their B/C team. Vidal sat on the bench and he is their best player and Sanchez only played the second half. It's a good win, but it's not like we played the A squad. When Sanchez came on in the second half he created many chances that our defense couldn't handle. They didn't finish them, but if Vidal and Sanchez were on this result would have been more impressive.

It was a great win, and the truly greatest considering the following:

-TM played under a coach who has already resigned his post
-Islamic revolution and IFF has crippled our football
-NO JB, NO Azmoun and NO PAG
