Are you guys really comparing our team now to the one under branko? Branko wasn't bad but just like with most other coaches, we had a strong offence but a weak defence. This strategy simply killed us against top opposition like Portugal as an example.Originally posted by hzv View Postyou are satisfied when comparing to branko?
These top teams would control the possession and we were not set up to defend against this.
With Queiroz we have that organized defence to weather the storm and we were able to be dangerous on the counter. Ex: against south Korea, Argentina, USA, etc.
Queiroz was miles ahead of any other coach.

And therein lies the key word: TEAM. Never before have I seen such a harmonized Team Melli where everyone was in-sync and knew exactly what to do. After so many years, CQ's message of "Nobody is larger than the national shirt" rang through to all the members of the team. Matches were no longer reliant on the actions of a single player but rather from a collective team effort. Brilliance came from every single player that wore the shirt, whether it was Nekounam, Ando, Hajsafi, Hosseini, Pouladi, Gucci, Dejagah, Haghighi, etc.Originally posted by Martin-Reza View PostThis was the best team we ever had. And that despite not having so outstanding players. Can only go downward from here.
This was more than just Team Melli in name. It was Team Melli in action and in spirit. With CQ at the helm, he was the voice of the people.
What a team and what a coach. Never before have I been so attached to this team as I was during this era.

I think quality wise, we have definitely have had better (Mahdavikia, daei, aziz, karimi, just to name a few). However even though we lack in excessive quality (as seen through our lack of actually "good" subs in that sweden game) I still think this is the best TM we have had up to date. We have had better players in the past but never a team this good. Again, the lack of results disappoints me but I believe that a lot of our losses happened many times due to bad luck and could have been avoided had we been under a better federation that could provide us with more friendlies that would ultimately have given us more opportunities to fix some tactical errors that we never discovered until they arose in major tournaments (for example, how to play against tall teams such as sweden, or how to play with 10 men such as Iraq or how to fight back from a loss (vs. Bosnia)).Originally posted by Salar View Postare you satisfied with the quality of our players?

with all due respect martin jan i disagree strongly. history has no room for sentiments and no way this team isbetter than the team/s that won 3 asian cups in a row and qualified to the world cup as the only nation from asia and oceana. if by "ever" youonly mean after the revolution then i would have to disagree again as there was the 98 team and branko's team that not only played better but also got better results. a look at trophies won under branko shows he was best coach after the revolution.Originally posted by Martin-Reza View PostThis was the best team we ever had. it's emotions talking. his results are simply not there, history remembers only results!Originally posted by teamiran View PostAre you guys really comparing our team now to the one under branko? I thought that during the Sweden and Chile matches, we played far better football then before. But, I still think CQ hasn't much of a talent for coaching an offensive minded side.

I rate Queiroz a 7.5/10 which, as far as national team coaches go, is pretty good.
First, let me thank him for all the good he brought to TM and overally I liked him and I'm not sure if we will get someone better next.
However, his realm also had quite a few disappointments and I like changes and always consider them opportunities!
Ideally TM will integrate the useful things and continue to build.
TM needs to find find a replacement for Nekounam ASAP and a better 3rd striker option. I would also like see more competition for the goal keeper spot.
Also, as the Sweden game has shown, TM would greatly benefit from a few physcially large and imposing players as options, one each for striker, midfield and defense.
