He was TM's key player last 7-8 years. One thing is sure, that he will be deeply missed. Thanks for the memories captain!

Probably the best Captain/leader of TM we've ever had. I've been following Iran's football since 1993 and I can safely say he was the best captain we've ever had.

Perhaps a good place to mention that he surpassed Karimi's goal count for TM today as well. He is in 3rd place after Daei and Bagheri.

Two very impressive records in a week, so ending his impressive TM career on a very high, albeit sad note.

He may not play for TM any more, but I'm sure he will be a part of our football program in the future and in some capacity.

Best of luck to you Javad and thank you for always giving it 100% for TM. We'll miss you on the field.

CQ's comment on Nekounam tonight after the match: Nekounam was the best captain in my coaching career, even higher than Donadoni, Raul, Keane, and Ronaldo.

What a captain. What a leader. What a legend.

                        You're not the only one.

At 34, I think we knew it would happen eventually. However, it still hurts (especially considering how it coincides with CQ's departure).

I can't predict the future and say that dark times are ahead but I very well know (and feel) that today is a very sad day.

Seriously, Nekounam truly is one of those players who are impossible not to love, a true gentleman.
Hopefully we will keep seeing a lot more of you in Iranian football, captain.
I just wish CQ would continue and Nekounam would be his assistant, as there were some rumours about.
