Who should be Team Melli's next captain?

As Javad retires from international football, we tip our hat to him and thank him for his many years of faithful service to Team Melli and Iran.

Javad's departure leaves a huge void in Team Melli from a captaincy perspective. I was thinking to myself, who should be Team Melli's next captain? There's no clear front-runner.

My vote goes to Hosseini or Ando, although both of them are a bit old.

Andranik "the great" Teymourian, and he's not old at 31 years he still has a couple of good years in him, if Ando stays in shape, he will be our captain at the wc 2018!

I was thinking Ando too, but he's already 32 years old, and probably won't make it to the next World Cup. Will or should that have an impact on the selection of the next captain? Perhaps it should be a player that can serve for several years in the future. Start nurturing them now.

Knowing how stupid IFF is, I could see them saying how we can't have a full-time Christian captain.

Ando will be a great captain But if he is to retire before 2018 I think Hajsafi will be the one to take over the role after him.

The only outstanding veterans are Ando and Jalal while Dejagah (minus his last match performance) is our team engine. I think Ando is the only one who is close to next Captain. I can not see anybody else filling the requirements. I just hope he can keep Team Melli out of Hashie just like Neko. Ando is a little rough on the pitch so he needs to act with more responsibility and calm other people down just like his performance with Persepolis when he hold down Sadeghian in IPL.

Ando apparently said tm after queiroz will be like a sinking ship. If he actually said that then he shouldn't be the captain but with iranian media you never know if it's true.

Even if it's true, can you blame him for saying that after recent events? They have to wait until everything is calm down. Two or three weeks from now and you can decide better. New coach and have new line up or invite totally different squad.

Without a doubt Andranik should be our captain. He is very intelligent, and a great leader. (Although he does have a bit of a temper sometimes) I feel that he can lead the team with his non stop hustle and commitment. I am sure playing along side Nekounam he has gained a lot of knowledge of how to be a captain, and I would trust him with that role.

Ando is definitely the next captain in my eyes, his position on the field, experience, and natural dominant persona all lead to him being the next captain. Keep in mind ando is not our average player. I think he will make it to next wc then retire. We will just have to see.
