This has nothing to do with Iranian goal keeping coaches. Even if you played for rec leagues, you should not be making the mistakes Lak made today or make many of the stupid moves he has repeated over and over in the past year.

This has all to do with the current IPL coaches (like Toni) keeping a non-performing goalie as their first keeper. Elsewhere in the world, after you have a game like Lak did today (or many of the other games he has had in the past year), he would have been benched until he worked hard enough that he was focused to be in goal again.

The first spot for a keeper (like any other spot in the team) should be a competitive position. When you don't have real competition for the spot, you start slacking, lose focus and become shit. If I'm not mistaken Khatibi had benched Lak for almost half of their last 10 games before he left - that's the way to deal with these situations IMHO.

The problem with benching Lak is that Ndoy also had some poor outings when he started.

As for Makani, the guy was arguably the best keeper in the league last season at Foolad (maybe behind Nilson) and has been in the top 2 or 3 goalies in the last 3 years.
One bad half of a season and all of a sudden the guy is an amateur. So reactionary.

Totally agree with everything you said in the above post.

Keep in mind that in Iran, teams dont really have a proper and functioning B and C team that they can easily reach into and grab the next qualified goalie and promote him to the A team and keep going forward.
In iran finding a decent GK has been difficult for years. Hence many teams grab a goalie from other countries. SO, in the GK position many time the coaches dont have a choice. Remember Derakhshan said this after on of Sosha Makani's bad games? he said " Dastam Bast-e ast". I think he was right.

finally saw the highlights of the traxtor game just to see what all the Lak fuss was all about...

i think many of you guys are discounting the Effect that High Wind had on both of his conceded goals..! first one was almost all his fault, as he tried to cradle the shot in his chest, end up spilling it...!
the second goal he can hardly be blamed for..!! He was guarding the far post on CK as he should, the CK/goal was clearly meant to be a cross, but the high wind took it upper 90 Near-Post above the head of player marking the near post. it woulda been a real tough save for any keeper to make in that situation.
Traxtor shoulda put the game to bed in 1st half, while the wind was at their back anyways. they unluckly hit the post/bar twice, and they had a perfectly good goal declined for bs foul..!!
not sure why Ando wasnt starting..?? but once they went 1-0 up, Ando shoulda been brought on rightaway to preserve the win, not sure when was he got subbed in..? but obviously and perhaps undrestandblyTraxtor is more focused on winning the league than beat the tough odds of going through to next round of ACL.

This is true. I can see the difference in Rahman Ahmadi once Toonchi left Sepahan and Faraki brought his own GK coach. RA got ejected twice and his performance has gone to hell. I hope they don't fuck up Amini's career as he is TM JAvanan's number one GK & a very promising GK.

That's what you get when you kick out the best IPL GK of the last 2-3 years and then suddenly realize you have no replacement. A true fool - removes Nilson and then blames everything on Makani lol.

I guess they are a result of somewhere else right?

Every country and league has good and bad GKs.
Like in Germany. There is Neuer and then there is Davari.

Btw, Makani still gets invited to TM somehow.
This is beyond insanity to compare germany with iran.
Germany has a record of uber goalkeepers in their history. They invest massively in goalkeeping because that's how german brains work. They build the foundation first, then the rest on top of it.
                Unlike us.
They always had the luxury problem who to nominate with so many good keepers.
Now naming Davari here is a clear provocation which i will ignore.
IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

Yeah, Lak, whose team is on top of the IPL is a result of domestic development.

                  I don't see how that's a problem.
