Who is our best player is tough to say right now. Sardar showed up at the Asian Cup and JB is doing for NEC and won player of the year at the club level. Can't wait to see what Ezzatollahi has to offer for us.

like AK8 was in his playing time, Dejagha currently is perhaps the most talented/skilled TM footballer ..!!?
yet he suffers from consistency and struggles with fitness and form, all too often and clearly lacks ambition joining kiri arab league/team this early in his career..!!
i think in short couple of years Azmoun will surpass him in overall talent department too..!

So who is your opinion our best player? Ando? He is good & more than this he is a very likeable person, but he is by far not our best player.
Saying Dejagah IS OUR BEST PLAYER and everyone who DISAGREES automatically never played football is just a ridiculous claim.
I am not saying he is not good, but ain't that uber player you try to picture here.
BTW: In terms of fighting spirit and hunger, yes, definately Ando. No doubt about that.IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

I don't want to bash you Ari but you are not looking objective at Dejagah in any of your posts related to him.
In all of your posts you praise him and you are not willing to see his negative points.
Let's be a little honest: Dejagah has been super average for TM except in a couple of games during and after his debut.
During the World Cup and the Asian Cup he was nothing special and I expected much more from a player who featured for Herta Berlin, Wolfsburg and Fulham.
I'd dare to say that even a player from IPL like Ghafouri was not any worse than Dejagah during games against South Korea and Iraq for example.
Dejagah's fitness is subpar for club football, let alone international standards while fitness is essential if you want to succeed in football. After roughly 50-60 minutes Dejagah looks completely gassed and for his age that is not normal. Something must be wrong, either he has a nagging injury which he is not healing from or he has simply a poor lifestyle.
I was watching the CL final last night and even a 36 year old player like Pirlo looked fitter than Dejagah.
This is worrying since a winger is an energetic position for 90 minutes long.

Of course we expected more, but thats what happen when arabs wont leave our players alone. but to say he was nothing special, is a bit too harsh IMO.

The most props of that goal should be given to Ando who set up the goal and Azmoun with the beautiful finisher.
And my remark ''nothing special'' goes back to the Bosnia and Nigeria game where he was invisible.
Something which annoys me a lot is his corners. I have never seen one being taken decent like the ones that Ando takes who often get headed into the back of the net (Iraq game for example).

at the very least can we agree that he's much better and has done more for the team than Masoud?

Now you bring up purely technique: I can prove that Masoud Shojaei has more talent in his left toe than Askhan Dejagah altogether.
Masoud played for years in La Liga who is known for players with high technical attributes and we have all seen that. Dejagah played in a more pyschial league like Bundesliga and in particular Premier League. The point is that Masoud even shined for a relegation team like Osasuna while Dejagah had good times during Herta and Wolfsburg.
To prove that Masoud is a more technically gifted player than Dejagah, here is some footage:
These are just a handful of examples I found. Note that Shojaei was smoking decent teams like Sweden and Korea on his own.
So purely based on the technical department Shojaei is without no doubt head and shoulders above Dejagah and the rest of the team, sorry. 6 years ago, Asia was calling Masoud the '''Messi of Asia''.
Of course Masoud has his own flaws. He holds the ball too long, he sometimes makes unnecessary dribbles, he has problems in mentality and is inconsistent. I recognize his strengths as well as weaknesses.

It's hard to compare Masoud and Dejagah, especially considering that their primes were in different years and they both have totally different playing styles, but to compare their techniques? Are you for real???? Shojaei has much better technique and dribbling than Dejagah, on several occasions he completely embarrassed the oponents defenders, such as vs Atletico Madrid, and there was another one where he dribble through pretty much all of them and scored (this was in la liga, can't remember what game though).
Dejagah is more the kind of fast winger, while Masoud is the type with better technique and vision. So IMO there is no way that Dejagah has better technique than Shojaei.

I'm telling you guys, it's an Iranian footballing trait to be inconsistent. I don't know why.
The only player I feel plays consistently well is Andranik Teymourian. He is consistently hustling, and very rarely a non-presence in a game.
Haghighi, inconsistent. Nekounam, inconsistent. Shojaei, inconsistent. Dejagah, inconsistent. As of late, even Gucci, inconsistent.
There's a reason I love Ando so much. He's the most underappreciated TM player of all time. Without him, over these last few years cleaning up games that we were screwing up, I don't want to think of where we would be.
