FYI, sorry to bring this thread back to the front page, but I was reading Dejagah's interview from Brazil last year, and it seems that he is no longer wanted in any of the main European top flights. I'm almost assured that his move to Qatar was both a mix of the money he got, in addition to the fact that no EPL or Bundesliga teams wanted to pay for him.

I think it's likely Ashkan will be going to another Arab country (I'm 99% sure Qatar doesn't need/want him anymore) and possibly IPL.

It doesn't seem like he sees himself as low enough to play in the second divisions of Europe, and he is too old to start over trying to break into the premiere leagues. The lower leagues have little cash, and he won't play for that at this age.

I truly hope I am wrong and just reading too deeply into his words, but he seems to write off Europe as a young-man's game now, so with that mentality, I don't see him going back to Europe, sadly.

I believe Hertha Berlin and West Brom wanted Dejagah but, were not willing to offer a high amount. Nevertheless, Dejagah could've stayed in Fulham, you never know he may have helped Fulham promote to EPL.

He's seriously the footballer I can think of which ruined his career the most, damn what an ashghal career development.

I can tell from the Asian Cup that Ashkan took a huge hit from playing in Qatar. For gods sake, if you're going to play in Qatar, at least play for Al Saad or Lehkwiya rather than the lower tier teams. This is something that just bothers me about our players in Qatar. But you could easily tell between his performance in the WC compared to the Asian Cup. Memo to Iranian players: dont waste your prime years in Qatar!

I get that he has a family and wants to give them a more comfortable life. However, its not like these European teams pay nothing, and it also doesn't mean that he can't go to these Arab teams later on for money. If he cared about his football as much as the money, he could believe in himself more and know that he can prove himself in Europe, use his skills to go to better bigger teams (making more money and developing), and after a few years when he is starting to pass his prime, because he would have a decent club history Arab teams would still want to sign him and he could get his additional money later on. His move was far too early in my opinion, and I know its selfish of me to say it but he really let me down. His formed has dropped considerably over the years, compare the Ashkan that came from Germany vs Qatar the first game, his performances while he was in Fullham, and now everything following the worldcup. I hope our youngsters continue to grow and make better decisions.

We don't need Dejagah as long as he stays in Qatar.

Jahanbakhsh should be our new winger.

Why are we so fickle? It's not like we have players playing for Bayern or Arsenal....or even Napoli....the best we can muster is Osasuna....No one is taking Dejagah's spot on TM for the next few years...definitely not because of where they play.

I take a player at NEC over a paper stacks maker at Al-Arabi in Qatar any day.

Has it ever occurred that Jahanbaksh and Dejagah can play in the same starting 11?

They were both wingers that game, no?
And yes they can both play in the same starting 11, but that would most likely mean that Hajsafi would be excluded from the starting 11, whom is a very vital player for us, especially since he can play both offensively very well as defensively.

Besides, Dejagah rarely lasts even more than 60-70 minutes, and with age and probably playing in Qatar, that might get even worse.

I hate to see him in Qatar(especially Al arabi), but as long as he plays well for Iran he deserves a spot, no matter which club he plays for.

Remember Ali Karimi was our best player when he was playing in UAE.

I dont agree with leaving Dejagah out simply because he plays in Qatar but I need to remind the members that Iran got 12 out of 16 of our points in the World cup Qualifiers without him.

We dont need Dejagah to qualify to the WC but he can be useful
