I'm not sure what the rift is in regards to CQ and KB, but Aghili/Rahmati should never play for TM again. Aghili is old and we have better goalkeepers in Iran than Rahmati. They derailed the camp by trying to act as though they were that special. They clearly were not if TM dropped them and we got to the World Cup.

      TM _NEW LIST- May 16

Something must have had happened in the Austria camp which made CQ to drop KB out of nowhere.

KB and CQ were always big friends from what we saw in pictures from trainings, and he was a player who always made the squad from the beginning. He was a decent winger for Asian standards.

I wish we took KB to Brazil instead of someone like Alenemeh. I do not understand why the latter got a free WC ticket while KB suddenly got dumped like a piece of crap. One of CQ's decisions I have never understood despite supporting him.

You can't compare apples with bananas and ask why a centerback was taken instead of an attacker. In fact we only had three centerbacks in the squad apart from Alenemeh, and they were all starters, it would have been utterly stupid not to take a single backup for them to Brazil.

I think he has probably realized that he needs player that are physically stronger. Players like KB or Nouri probably have no place in his tactical strategies anymore.

i gotta agree with most of what you say here..!!
CQ went waaaay too, 1sided defense-heavy, in his final WC selection and as a result few (performance-wise)undeserving, useless players got a WC trip as a result..! players such as Beita, Alenemeh, injured Hashem shouldnt have made the final squad, while we could have really done better had we instead, opted for young-Sardar, Karimi, and KB..!!
I was furious @ CQ back then, especially for dropping the Azmoun and AK8..!!
TBH, overall i wasnt too impressed with KB all along, but i think he coulda been a good (offensive) Joker-card to have on the bench, in case of complete desperation for offense late in match..!! besides like you said KB seemed to be really getting along with CQ during the WCQualifings and his omission must have hurt the guy really bad and he then foolishly succumbed to the Anti-CQ camp and their media machine, Questioning his decision on Final squad and voicing his displeasure at getting snubbed out of the WC squad..!! & THAT SIMPLY DOES NOT BODE WELL WITH CQ's Personality..!

but, like i said before, CQ simply isnt a forgive or forgetting sort of a guy either...!! He doesnt particularly take Criticism, all too well and once you cross him, its over for you in his overall plans, PERIOD..!!
you noticed how he went ape-shitt over that Asadi guy and Olympic Team taking away Azmoun/ARJ...!!

We may not agree to every one of his decisions, but if you look at the big picture, he is overall, very good for our football. In the long-run, this will further teach a bigger and more important professionalism lesson to our players and help alleviate the historic problem weve had in TM with big personalities Questioning Coaches and their Authority and often creating self-destructing Hashieh environment in TM..! you all saw what happened in WC06 when a less authoritative Brako let, infighting completely derail our very talented and promising team's advancement out of the group..!

Really? We had almost close to zero offensive players in Brazil and we had an overkill of defensive players! If I look back at the squad I count more than 10 defensive players at least! Even DM's like Haghighi could play as CB, the inclusion of Alenemeh was totally unwarranted.

KB who played a role in the qualification gets sidelined despite all his hard work and loyalty to the team which is in my eyes unacceptable and unjustified to drop him right before the World Cup.

And if anything, he could have brought something useful in the Bosnia game where we needed goals. Taking Alenemeh and dropping KB showed badly that game.

KB Never really suited CQ's preferred Style of Play...!! i get a feeling, it was his fun-loving personality that won over CQ early on and thus he was invited often although he didnt really get too many game minutes..!!
when he criticized CQ, then out went his chances of ever suiting up in his teammelli.!!

No such personality love-lost figured in CQ's Final WC Selection...! He had devised a Highly Defensive, slightly Counter-Attacking Tactics for WC 14 & he Ruthlessly Only INCLUDED Players who may help him best accomplish that style of play and tactics..!!

You are right, we had way too many defenders and were extremely limited in offensive choices as we left many players behind

I will never understand why some ppl still claim we were parking the bus in Brazil. Against Argentina, the WC finalist, we had more goalscoring opportunities than they had and if we hadn't been denied that penalty, we surely would not have lost the match.

Never said that but it was crystal clear that the offensive side was heavily neglected and the main idea of CQ was to rely on defense. In the Bosnia game it was obvious that he did not have any plan B when the team falls behind. When you only have two strikers in the team like Gucci and Ansarifard, do you expect to score?

Despite his occasional weird decisions I overall support CQ so don't get me wrong. I think he can be criticized for some tactics as well, he is human too.

at least be fair. We had an awesome defense and some opportunists but Argentina dominated us on everything possible. Argentina could score many goals if we didn't resort to park the bus style.

Whether it was Daei, Ghotbi, or Quieroz, Khalatbari was never a fixed player for any of these coaches and was at best, a super-sub. Aside from 1-2 games, the games which he started, he would go MIA.

Khalatbari is a great player in our league but he's been far from being a memorable Team Melli player. Also, there's no need for a rift to have gone down between CQ and Khalatbari in order for Khalatbari to have been dropped. It's the job of the coach to make the tough decisions and in Khalatbari's case, he didn't possess the qualities which CQ believed would contribute to our success. CQ wants physically strong and fit box-to-box players and Khalatbari did not fit the bill.

we played extremely defensive in brazil against Argentina and it did work against us in some instances. For example those chances that Reza had in front of the goal that the Argentinian goal keeper couldn't get properly and dropped them in the box, if we had ONE player in the box, a finisher, we would have scored, but all of our other players were in the back. we attacked with just one person. So, yeah we could have scored, easily against Argentina if we had just one other player in the argentine box

I agree with you, but that is when we fell in the 0-2 position, it was never in CQ's plans to concede and be down a goal or even two. In that case KB would've been needed, however CQ didn't plan on that to happen, but oh well not everything can go according to your plans always. It was quite obvious when our offensive subs were like Ansarifard for Dejagah

CQ is not flawless and we should deal with this. He has made some mistakes and if he is smart enough he will not repeat those again. We will see in future if we made a mistake backing him up or not. I hope he fixes those errors and has a good plan for time we need to come out of our defensive style to score.
