Ansarifard is the biggest waste of talent in our history. He could've been the next big thing and the IFF destroyed the kid's development

Im not going to lie when I didnt see Nekounam/Dejagah/Jahanbaksh in the list , I panicked because these players are so effective for us. I then realized that the feelings I had were caused by a shared Iranian mentality that when a legend goes, they will never be replaced. Nekounam will always be a legend but it doesnt mean we wont find a CM like him ever again.

Hosseini/Montazeri are there this WC cycle to train Rezaian, Ghafouri, PAG to reaching their heights. Azmoun was a weak kid two years ago and is a specimen after going to Russia now.

If you saw the ACL games its also obvious that even at midtable performing teams like Perspolis, Iran has players that are technically the best in Asia.

Add some Naft/Zob Ahan in this list and I think we are definitely raising a younger team who can take the game to anyone.

The only thing he did so far was to go to Europe instead of staying in IPL or going to arab leagues.

This is absolutely true. I dont think CQ is the type to underestimate weaker teams. If anything he probably overestimates them.

With the Indonesia FA suspension, in order to ensure equality, The result against the lowest team in the group will be thrown out when it comes to ranking second placed teams. This is very good for us/Oman since its likely we beat Guam 4-5/0 while Qatar/Saudi/UAE can beat teams in their group like Bhutan and Timor Leste with very high score lines.

I think this lets CQ trust his youth a bit more with winning the games rather than putting an older A team to win with multiple goals.

The million dollar question is who's going to replace Nekou. Personally, I'd like to see PAG get a crack at that position instead of playing in defense. But CQ may not risk it and drop Ando back a bit and find a replacement for his position.

                  Ezzatolahi.

Everyone keeps saying he is too young but there are players his age which play in national teams allover the world and excel. Don't forget he was starting in IPL when he was 16. So to say he is too young or not ready is BS im my opinion.

He should and probably will get a crack. Even look at Azmoun, was about the same age when he started playing for TM.

PAG also seems like an interesting option, but I don't know how good he is offensively and his passing game. He is very good at aerial play which is as far as I know about his non defensive abilities.

That's a wrong info. He always was a benchwarmer with Malavan which wasn't bad at all considering his age, but still no where near a starting player. And Malavan isn't the best of teams

Also, Azmoun only started to get some reasonable minutes for TM in his late 19-early 20. We can't compare him to Ezzatolahi at all who is barely playing in 4th division, while Azmoun was playing in a top 7 league regularly. Still Azmoun didn't even go to the WC while he was in great form.

When Ezzatollahi will play weekly in a solid league, we can start counting on him more seriously but for now, he's too young and getting his first official TM call-up should be considered as a very good first step, we have to observe his development, he is still ''only'' a raw talent.

You dont want to put to much pressure on him. You want to build him up.

Good list overall. I'm guessing CQ will add 3-4 players from Naft/Zob at the expense of 3-4 players on the list.

I'm almost certain he was starting for Malavan.

Although if you were following him closely back then, I'm happy to believe you.

You keep saying fourth div in your posts. Don't underestimate the amount of good learning and experience he is getting just by being trained in Athletico which is well known for producing top players.

There is not harm in giving him a chance.

I remember when Nekounam was at PAS and just getting noticed. I kept saying he should be invited to TM and everyone was saying the same thing, "He's too young, too inexperienced, needs to play a season at PP or SS, etc..."

Well, we know how he turned out.

Some people seem to forget that players become who they are because of the experience they gain while developing, not the other way around.

In the United States/European club teams many of the U23/U21/U19 teams use the same training facilities as the seniors mens team to acclimate them to what they will grow into. Theres nothing wrong with calling Saeed up. Getting exposed to TM now is much better than later.

Nekounam was called up in 2000 for the WAFF games at the age of 19. Ezzatollahi is just on track

I own a Barcelona kit, they should have called me up to replace Nekounam no problem.

Exciting list. If you can't try new faces and youngsters now, then when can you? Perfect strategy to rejuvenate Team Melli.
