Mexico took over hosting the 1986 Men's World Cup from Colombia in May of 1983. The US took over hosting the 2003 Women's World Cup from China with 4 months left till the tournament. There is time to change Russia but I don't think they will as there isn't the direct evidence of bribing or the self admission of bribing like the arabs.

I think Australia and the US have the infrastructure to host already. A US/Canada Co-Hosting would be nice as well.

What about the 2002 World Cup which was held in Japan/Korea? Why does everything have to be perfect and fitting for people in Europe and America? Most of the worlds population is in Asia.

Australia deserves to host a major sporting event like the World Cup, just remember how well the Olympics went in Australia and especially remember the Asian Cup just this year which was one of the best ever held.

my two cents on these developments

1, Blatter was part of the problem, but not THE problem!
Look at AFC, and I think 10 people have to resign from the headquarters of AFC.
Lets not get so far and stay in FIFA, some people are made to think, that after Blatter's resignation, FIFA will be a clean sheet... well FIFA has never BEEN a clean sheet, and it doesnt matter who the president is, the problems are deeply rooted in FIFA, the whole organization has a problem.

2, after 40 years at FIFA, surely Blatter can still hold is head up and say, "I still won the election, and decided to step down based on my own decision, and not because I cannot win elections".
so, lets see it as a "win-win" situation for Blatter and Fifa!

But all in all, I doubt anything will change... AFC will continue screwing us, FIFA will continue their policies etc...
The only change I can see is that, when the head of Fifa resigns, it gives a symbolic signal "we know there is something wrong in our system"..... but whether they tackle AND change it or not is another question.....!

1. It's different times now, there are bigger demands now with the arenas and communications. Also there were 24 teams at the WC86 in Mexico

2. You can't compare womans world cup with the mens, there were 16 teams and it's not as popular as the "real" WC and the demands for the arenas for example aren't as high as the mens WC.

Look how long it took for Brazil to build the arenas before the WC and yet they were late, look at Qatar now, how soon they started with the construction.

Bro I'm just like you and think AUSTRALIA is the only genuine candidate for this 2022 World Cup.

I mean the US and Uk have had their turn already, and as you pointed out that we have shown to be more than capable of hosting a huge tournament.

It's just that I don't think the U.S. Will go to all this effort to take the WC from Qatar, only to let AUSTRALIA host the thing.

I feel like they are doing this so they can host the 2022 edition.

The demands and number of teams may be bigger but then again countries are more prepared than there were say 10 years ago. They have also evolved and advanced with the new demands mentioned. Perhaps not every single country but enough of them to be able to pull it off in 3 years.

USA and England wouldn't need to build additional stadiums for hosting a World Cup. Everything's pretty much already there. Both would need just a year at most to set up the logistics for hosting the teams and their fans.

Indeed, there are lots of people in Asia who could potentially become more interested in Football if the WC is hosted around their region. It will most likely also benefit AFC.
